Hello, I would like your opinions on my boys name choice as its a little bit unusual and DH doesn't really like it but I think I can change his mind.

It's Ayrton.

pronounced air-ton, (yes, like the dead racing driver) I just love it and I think it goes well with our surname. I'm thinking about James as a middle name. I know some people won't like it but I need honest options please ladies!
Thanks. x

I like it.

LaCerbiatta · 08/12/2011 13:28

That's not how you pronounce the racing driver name, it's A-eer-ton. Not sure how nice it sounds in English? Nice name though

hellokitty123 · 08/12/2011 14:01

I think Ayrton James sounds great and isn't already used by thousands - great choice!

EdithWeston · 08/12/2011 14:04

I think it's OK.

tammytoby · 08/12/2011 14:07

I like it.

NewBikeForChristmas · 08/12/2011 14:10

Makes a change from the many, many preschool Jensens around.

seeker · 08/12/2011 14:12

Ghastly.

idobelieveinfairies · 08/12/2011 14:13

I know of two Ayrton's, both went to DC school. I think it is nice.

ImpYCelynAndTheIvy · 08/12/2011 14:22

Not especially keen, I must admit. Everyone will ask if you're massive fans of Senna.

I know one, he's about 15 now though - he was born in Brazil, and is indeed named after Senna.

tammytoby · 08/12/2011 14:24

Who is Senna Confused?

comedaygoday · 08/12/2011 14:35

It's not my taste, but I like traditional and biblical names so you probably wouldn't like my favourite names. I would only use it though if your DH also likes it.

argghh · 08/12/2011 14:53

my friend called their girl baby Senna ...

happywheezer · 08/12/2011 14:57

I always thought it was pronounced Ay(like eye) airton Senna.
A terrific racing driver, if you like racing that is.
It's a good name anyway.

youtalkintomeunderthemiseltoe · 08/12/2011 16:04

argghh four friend Shock. Op sorry don't like it, he will spend his whole like spelling and explaining.

Senna Pod, aargh?

101North · 08/12/2011 16:19

not completely gross but goes along with those boys names - Jensen, Thurston, Mason (Maison? Grin ), not to my taste but hey

nickelbabe · 08/12/2011 16:22

I love it

tuga - it is technically, but most people (including me) pronounce it Air-ton.

he was a hero of mine.

nickelbabe · 08/12/2011 16:23

tammytoby - Ayrton Senna - a very famous Formula 1 racing driver who was killed in a crash many years ago.

Bloodycomputer · 08/12/2011 16:23

It's ok

smable · 08/12/2011 16:24

I love it (am a huge Senna fan) however i would find people mispronouncing it really annoying, altho you sound like you like to english way so go for it

3isamagicnumber · 08/12/2011 16:43

It's more of a surname to me (I know an 'Ayrton' family)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/12/2011 16:25

Nope - don't like it at all.

lottiegb · 11/12/2011 14:50

Hmm, no interest in racing cars but saw the recent film about Senna and he was lovely. I noticed three different pronunciations of the name though; Eye-air-ton from Americans, Air-ton from Brits and something between the two, that had an eye sound but flowed better so more like 2.5 syllables from Brazilians. Made me think we don't listen and Americans exaggerate to simplify.

In the UK, sounds like a surname.

pixiestix · 11/12/2011 14:56

I like it! Another huge Senna fan here.
