Boring, boring I know, but I an due in 6 weeks and struggling to decide on a boys name (dong know the sex, we've chosen Martha for a girl). We'll probably only reach a decision after the birth, but I'd appreciate some feedback on the shortlist as it may help us to narrow it down a little beforehand.

Our DS is called George and we have a two syllable surname starting with K.

Our first choice would be Robin, but we stupidly used this for DS's middle name.

Rory
Fraser
Adam
Seth
Toby
Benjamin
Leo

Meant to say, thanks in advance, and also scuse the typos!

I think they are all nice, but especially like Leo and Fraser.

silver28 · 06/11/2011 06:59

Thanks mellowcat. They're both recent additions to the list, i just discovered that my great grandfather was called Leopold which got me thinking about the name.

Fraser we both like, but weren't sure if it was a bit odd to use this with having no Scottish/Celtic connections (same goes for Rory).

Love Fraser - classic underused name that goes well with George.

deemented · 06/11/2011 07:37

Oh i absolutely love Seth - DS3 was that for about ten mins before we decided it didn't suit him.

However, i think Leo or Benjamin woul work better with your DS's name.

Towndon · 06/11/2011 08:03

In order of preference...

Seth
Adam
Rory
Benjamin
Leo
Toby
Fraser

Rhubarbgarden · 06/11/2011 09:18

Adam or Leo

ByTheSea · 06/11/2011 09:24

I like them all except Seth.

RosalindFranklinsNobelPrize · 06/11/2011 09:34

I like Rory

LynetteScavo · 06/11/2011 09:34

The only one I don't like is Seth.

AnaisB · 06/11/2011 09:51

I like them all except Toby - I think we have similar taste. I onrder of preference:

Benjamin
Adam
Leo (although I think I prefer Leon)
Seth
Rory
Fraser

Toby

silver28 · 06/11/2011 10:25

Thanks for the comments. Seth seems to be one of the names people really like or dislike. Other names a bit so.

I do like all of the names but none really stands out. Don't know how we'll choose! But then I felt that way when we chose george's name and after a while I couldn't imagine him having another name.

Rory is nice.
Hate Fraser
Love Adam.
Love Seth even more.
Not fond of Toby
Benjamin is very nice.
Leo is ok.

Montsti · 06/11/2011 11:53

Benjamin all the way for me. Not keen on any of the others except Leo is ok, but don't think it goes well with George. Although more popular than most of your suggestions I think the following, in my opinion go better: William, Henry, Oliver, Sebastian, Frederick.

I also don't think it's a problem if you go for Robin...

Lollyheart · 06/11/2011 11:57

Love Fraser, but I do have a one Wink

gazzalw · 06/11/2011 12:35

I like Rory and Leo...think there are a lot of Benjamins already and do you like Ben as a diminutive? Short boys' names are very masculine and that's no bad thing!

TidyDancer · 06/11/2011 12:41

Rory and Fraser I really dislike, Toby and Seth are a bit iffy, but the rest are lovely!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 06/11/2011 12:42

Fraser, Adam and Seth are beautiful.
Don't like Rory ? think it sounds wet (sorry).
I like Toby but think it sounds a little bit like a dog's name.
Prefer Benedict to Benjamin ? again, I think Benjamin is a bit wet.
Leo is nice but makes me think of Tony Blair Grin. Perhaps Leon, as suggested upthread?

silver28 · 06/11/2011 13:15

I do like Benjamin a lot more than I like Ben, and I know that he would end up called Ben. I don't dislike the nn but am not wowed by it.

Adam seems to have received little adverse reaction - is that because it's boring and nondescript?! I do like it but worry it might be a little forgettable.

silver28 · 06/11/2011 13:17

Not so keen on Leon, mainly cos I know an adult one and can't imagine a baby with the name.

OP posts:
LadyClariceCannockMonty · 06/11/2011 13:46

Adam is classic IMO, and lovely, not nondescript.

proudfoot · 06/11/2011 15:55

Ooh go for Adam! It is so lovely and you don't hear it too often even though it's a classic.

I also love Martha btw. Great taste.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/11/2011 17:10

In order of preference -

Adam - love it
Benjamin - nice
Toby - nice but would go with Tobias on b/c
Leo - ok
Fraser - not over fond
Rory - don't like
Seth - I have an irrational but v intense hatred for this name, sorry. It sounds hissy and unpleasant to me.

LOVE Robin - that is the best. How about Rowan? Or Rupert?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/11/2011 17:12

Love Martha.

Mollydoggerson · 06/11/2011 17:14

You could use Robin.

I don't think Rory 6oes with 6eor6e.

I love Fraser.

I also hate Seth and don't know why.

All others are nice.
