I have a Raphael (gets Raffy, Rafe, Raf, Rafa) and I clearly love it.

Also love Rufus, fab name.

threecurrantbuns · 31/10/2011 20:41

I think I'm down to Rupert and Rufus atm Hmm

Both are fine names!

Wait until he is born and have a look at him...then you'll know if he's more of a Rupert or a Rufus.

threecurrantbuns · 31/10/2011 21:23

That is the plan just such a long wait lol not half way yet and been thinking of these names since before we started trying.

I really like my shortlist so far Rupert is scraping it atm in a way hope my list doesn't change too much while I wait :)

Hi threecurrantbuns, I was thinking whether you had your little boy yet.
I can't remember the names I suggested but
Wilf
Wilbur- Somebody I know called their little one this, I love it
Miles
Felix
I love Raphael
Jasper
Rupert is a great name though.
I call my Edward, Ned or Neddy rarely Ed.
Good luck let us know how it goes

threecurrantbuns · 31/10/2011 21:38

Thank you. Will let you know if the thread is remembered by then of course suppose I should have sort opinions nearer the time rather than being just under half way through my pregnancy.

Hoping to find out the sex in the next week though so at least I will be able to set my mind to a name.

Unless he/she doesn't look anything like the chosen name.

And if we are having a boy I'm sure I will be back with middle name advise ;)

I remembered because you have a Hugo, and liked Edward which are my DSs names!

DessieLou · 31/10/2011 23:07

I love Rupert! I think it's classic, strong, not overused but not 'out there'. It would be top of my list if it wasn't for Reuban! I quite like Rufus, but it seems a bit faddy, may become dated. Hugo is a crackin' name and goes great with Rupert....you have such good taste OP! Have you picked a girls name then?

threecurrantbuns · 01/11/2011 07:09

Thank you we love Hugo too. Hopefully Rupert would grow on family like Hugo did.

Girls name we are between Iris and Beatrix atm.

I like Rupert/Rufus. Edmund (love it)? Eadric? Edwin? Raffe/Ralph?

threecurrantbuns · 02/11/2011 13:55

We love Ralph but having a Hugo we dont want people to think we have a designer obsession.

Didnt even consider Hugo Boss when we had our Hugo but it has been picked up on by another parents son.

I just have vision of children saying Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren

I like Rufus though personally wouldnt go with it myself ( a little too 'out there' for traditional old me!)

Really dont like Rupert, think it is a bit poncy (sorry).

Like Nathaniel, Sebastian, Dominic and Benedict.

phlossie · 02/11/2011 16:05

I have a Rufus and think it's THE best boy's name ever. He's Rufie for short, and sometimes Ru, and I think I call Roofs sometimes. Click on my name to see a picture of him - I think he's rather gorgeous. We've never had any negative comments about the name, or piss-taking, apart from the man in my parents' village shop who has a dog called Rufus!

We named him in honour of my dad whose name is Rupert (also Ru for short). My dad was a bit of a public school boy, and I think the name definitely has those connotations. But I like it.

Funnily enough Hugo is on our list for DC3, and DD's name is Beatrice. We call her Betty.

threecurrantbuns · 02/11/2011 20:19

We obviously have good taste in names phlossie

Rufus is a fab name, I do love it. How about Ralph as in Ralph Fiennes pronunciation or spelt Raffe? Old Norse for Wolf (counciller)? Ranulph? Roland? Randolf? Raoul?

phlossie · 04/11/2011 11:55

We do! Iris was next in line, but my cousin got there first. The baby I'm expecting now is Albert/Stanley/Finian/Fergus or Tabitha (need a back up girls name). When are you due, threecurrantbuns?

Like your suggestions too muffinino.

chinateacup · 04/11/2011 12:15

We have Rafferty. We thought he'd be nn Rafe but it's mostly Raffie or Rafa. We were going to have Rupert for DS2 but just thought it would be too many "R" names in the house.
Also loved Arthur (Art), Gabriel, Milo, Frederick, Albert, Clement, Algie ...

threecurrantbuns · 04/11/2011 12:59

I'm trying not to tell anyone in rl my name ideas as terrified someone may use one before me.

Not due till April (life sentence) but had the name list started before was pregnant iris has been on it since dc2 (this is no4) but dh never liked it now he does if its a girl so tempted to quick with it being as I've loved it so long.

Still working on Rupert (my favorite) he isn't sure think he is more worried about reactions. Love Rafferty but he wasn't keen.

OP posts:
emmyloo2 · 05/11/2011 04:21

These are all great names!!! I always wanted to have an Edward but my DH wasn't as keen. Out of the three R names I like Rufus and Rupert a lot. Not sure about Rafferty....

mathanxiety · 05/11/2011 04:51

How about Raftery instead of Rafferty? Or Rory? (same meaning as Rufus, give or take)

Not keen on Rupert.

threecurrantbuns · 07/11/2011 13:01

Well hopefully finding out the sex 2mo eek :) so that will make the decisions a bit easier dh still isn't sure on many of the boys names so far but likes the possible girl name so if It's a boy at least he can start to really think about the boys options we have so far

OP posts:
bigwheelsturning · 07/11/2011 22:49

I have a Rufus - so obviously biased - he's usually Rufus but sometimes Ru & as a baby was Rufie :)

(Edmund, Hugo & Dominic were on my shortlist for him)

threecurrantbuns · 08/11/2011 15:44

Well we found out that we are having a girl Grin very excited but also being as this is our last its a shame I won't ever get to use the name Rupert was pretty much decided on it and still love it.

Thanks for all you input though.

Congratulations. The girls' names you have in mind are lovely.
