Eva -OK
Hera - lovely
Autumn - doesn't do it for me, sorry.
Kate - prefer as a nn
Esther - OK
Phoebe - OK
Florence - like

Middle name will be Juliet or Rae - much prefer Juliet

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 29/10/2011 22:19

don't be sorry, I like all of them but am honestly interested in general consensus! Rae is fore runner middle name because it's after my grannie, but some of them don't go with Rae so Juliet is backup depending which forename we choose

Eva juliet

MerryMarigold · 29/10/2011 22:20

Eva - like. Nearly had Eve myself.
Hera - nope, but too trendy/ mumsnetty Wink
Autumn - interesting, but naaah
Kate - nah
Esther - lovely
Phoebe - my niece's name. Think it sounds a bit nasal myself
Florence - bit of the moment, but ok

I like Rae for a middle name, Esther Rae is really nice as v traditional name with something a bit cool in the middle. However I also like Phoebe Rae.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 29/10/2011 22:27

ooops - forgot Maggie is on there too

Eva lovely and either mn would go with it (or both Eva Juliet Rae)
Hera -- lovely; Juliet would be the obv mn
Autumn very hippie->downmarket
Kate -- only if Kathryn would be used on the BC. Juliet would go well. Kate is a lovely nn
Esther -- Lovely, with Juliet as mn
Phoebe -- Lovely, and either mn would go well
Florence -- dowdy/Victorian imo
Maggie -- only if Margaret would be on the BC. I'm, not sure either Rae or Juliet would go with either Maggie or Margaret. Maybe Margaret Juliet Rae?

I like them all with the exceptions of Autumn and Florence. And I like Kate if short for Kathryn. I prefer Margaret to Maggie tbh and prefer Greta to either.

comedaygoday · 29/10/2011 22:33

Eva: ok, but v common.
Hera: Don't like
Autumn: Don't like.
Esther: Lovely. Classic, tasteful and beautiful.
Kate: Prefer Catherine with Kate as nn.
Florence: quite like
Phoebe: ok, inoffensive.
Maggie: ok, but Margaret with Maggie or Margot as nn is great

mathanxiety · 29/10/2011 22:34

Any reason not to use Juliet Rae as the name? Juliet is a fabulous name imo.

MerryMarigold · 29/10/2011 22:34

Now Maggie I do love (but not with Rae, with Juliet). I was going to have Marigold/ Maggie for nn, but dh vetoed it. I am still bitter!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 29/10/2011 22:37

math just that DH doens't like it enough, also I hate Jules as a nn which might be inevitable as she grows up?

Thanks - all really useful. Looks like Esther is frontrunner so far

I would def only use Kate, I don't like any of the longer versions, same for Maggie

Kate, Hera, Autumn and Florence are my faves.

Kaekae · 29/10/2011 22:40

Eva - ok
Hera -no
Autumn -no
Kate - slightly boring
Esther - no
Phoebe - ok
Florence - love but very of the moment.

Kaekae · 29/10/2011 22:41

Oh and love Maggie

startail · 29/10/2011 22:57

Esther, because DD2 should be Esther and my silly mum and sister said it made them think of Esther Ransom ( who no one remembers now) and I sometimes wish I hadn't listened as her actual name is lovely, but over used.

Lonnie · 30/10/2011 12:02

Well I will be different to everyone else

Eva to popular for my liking lovely name but
Hera I like it
Autumn also like
Kate Dull
Esther Dull and yes reminds me or Ester Ransom whom was on tv the other morning so I think many will remember
Phoebe I know its popular but I do like it
Florence dont like

dreamfeeder · 30/10/2011 12:07

I like Esther, Eva (but agree, super popular), Phoebe and Florence. Wouldn't go for Kate or Maggie- the child/person will constantly be asked whenever they ring up for anything- is it short for anything?

Esther Rae my overall favourite

Gornygoo · 30/10/2011 12:21

Eva Rae definitely, very pretty name

babycandance · 30/10/2011 13:16

Eva or Phoebe for me with Juliet as middle name, Kate is nice aswell but others are not really my taste.

CurwySwide · 30/10/2011 13:34

Eva - pretty but overused
Hera - like it a lot
Autumn - not for me
Kate - ok but prefer Kitty as shortened version of Katherine/Catherine/Kathryn
Esther - love this; best by far
Phoebe - used to really love this but have gone off it for no real reason
Florence - very pretty but a bit faddy, for want of a better word

So Esther for me

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 30/10/2011 14:44

didn't realise Eva was so "popular", nor Florence (this was the name I desperately wanted to name my daughter when I was about 15!)

mumofbumblebea · 30/10/2011 16:25

like esther and florence and eva is ok. love juliet as a mn.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/10/2011 17:43

Esther by a mile - but prefer Hester. Autumn is bad imho. I like Rae.

noddyholder · 30/10/2011 17:47

Love Kate and Esther

Boobz · 30/10/2011 17:52

I told you Florence and Eva were popular - I know everything. Also told you you can't have Maggie and Kate without the long version - very un mumsnetty to have a nickname for a first name.

So you must have Hera based on all of that.

Now come and sort my boy's name problem out.

Fixture · 30/10/2011 18:50

I like Esther, Phoebe and Florence :)
