So far we have:

Nancy (I love, DH not convinced)
Nell
Romola
Alice
Beatrice

Please be honest, I can take it . She will be our dc3, and she is proving very hard to name. Maybe it will be obvious when she arrives!

Nell and Beatrice are my favourites.

peggyblackett · 12/10/2011 20:43

I think Nell is my favourite at the moment - well apart from Nancy but I cn probably kiss that name goodbye, dh is not for turning :o.

eatyourveg · 12/10/2011 20:50

In order

Nell
Beatrice
Alice
Nancy
Romola

Love the first three but hate the last two - sorry

mybootsaremuddy · 12/10/2011 20:57

In order of prefrence

Alice
Nell
Beatrice
Nancy
Romola

Sofiaintherye · 12/10/2011 21:54

Beatrice is very beautiful, the heroine of Dante's inferno.

Fixture · 12/10/2011 21:56

I like Beatrice, and Nell if a nickname for something longer.

Alice is rather dull, Nancy too flouncy, and Romola a bit moley.

babycham42 · 12/10/2011 21:58

No.1=Nancy
No.2=Nell
No.3=Beatrice

Not keen on Romola or Alice.

rachel1970 · 12/10/2011 22:06

1 = Beatrice
2 = Alice
3 = Romola
4 = Nell
.
.
10 = Nancy

Italiangreyhound · 12/10/2011 22:13

Nell

peggyblackett · 12/10/2011 22:16

Thanks everyone. No general consensus then, apart from not Romola!

I'm still swaying towards Nell - my great grandmother was Nelly, which is a bit much, but I do like the idea of continuing the family name.

Any other suggestions? We're keen to not have a Top 20 name this time (dd1's name is very popular, and whilst I love it it'd be good to have something more unusual).

Nancy or Alice for me.

grumplestilskin · 12/10/2011 22:19

Nancy - lovely
Nell - nice
Romola - not a fan
Alice - don't like
Beatrice - its very..... I'ld expect Beatrice's mum to be very NCT cloney

TimeWasting · 12/10/2011 22:21

I like Nell, but would need it to be short for something. Same for Nancy.

Love Alice, not keen on Beatrice, never heard of Romola and not at all keen.

dreamfeeder · 12/10/2011 22:21

Iona (I love this, wanted it for DD)
Erin (is that top 20?)
Erica
Chloe
Abigail
Ilsa
Liberty

I quite like Nell, and know a cute little girl called Nell, but I think it should be short for something personally, it sounds like it is iyswim

peggyblackett · 12/10/2011 22:24

I love Iona, and Erin, but DH has vetoed already. Spookily, two of the others you have listed Dreamfeeder are family names already :)

gnushoes · 12/10/2011 22:26

What do you want her to be like? third girl, bit feisty -- Nancy fits the bill.

beanandspud · 12/10/2011 22:27

I love Eleanor, with Nell as a nickname.

Other than than Beatrice or Alice would be my favourites. Not very keen on the others - sorry!

beanandspud · 12/10/2011 22:27

than that

dreamfeeder · 12/10/2011 22:29

hey, spooky peggy. I'm dying to know which 2 now!! I'll have to try harder... Our DD was nearly an Erin. And Iona was only out because I have the same name as my aunty, and her firstborn daughter is Iona, so it seemed a bit much...

Like Eleanor nicknamed to Nell.

peggyblackett · 12/10/2011 22:30

I agree gnushoes. My great great aunt is a Nancy, and according to my grandmother a bit of a devil when she was in her teens and 20s - she used to pay my GM a penny to tell suitors that she wasn't in when they called :o. I like that.

dreamfeeder · 12/10/2011 22:31

Eliza
Martha (not so sure about this one- great or poor??)
Esme (love love love, shame DH doesn't)

I'm currently 13 weeks with twins. (and a 13 month DD). Back to name obsession...

peggyblackett · 12/10/2011 22:32

I wish I was keener on Eleanor, but I'm not . I think its because Im not keen on Ellie as a name.

OP posts:
seeker · 12/10/2011 22:32

Ellen, Eleanor, Helen or Helena. Shortened to Nell. Lovely.
