Euro-trashy names that would suit a Jilly Cooper character

Can you help us find Euro-trashy names that would suit a Jilly Cooper character (the smouldering European type boy or girl)

It seems a silly request but we quite like European names and I just thought giving a few more descriptives would help (or you could imagine the head of the ECB or IMF to give you a few more European type names!)

DH and I just can't seem to agree on names. DH is French and we live in France. I am anglophone.

The following boys are out for various reasons, friends, family or chronic overuse!:
Alexandre
Theo
Charles
Clement
Adrien
Henry
Louis
Arthur
William
Richard

(we like Max and Sacha as boys' names)

Girls names that are out are:
Virginie
Charlotte
Rose
Stephanie
Alexandra
Sophie
Amelie

(We like Emilia and Scarlett as girls' names)

Thanks, none of those really take my fancy - either because we have friends or friends' children with those names. Pascal is a fairly bleurgh name (sorry!) We also have a female relative called Pascale.

Gabrielle doesn't go with our surname.

More exotic please!!

Loving the work here. I have friends with a son called Enzo, DH would love it (petrolhead).

I can just see our relatives snorting at some of these - makes me want to use them even more.

Glad no one has suggested Dominique. That would be a straight veto from DH and I Grin

and with an election next year in France no Segolenes, Martines, Nicholas, etc!

Olivia - Laurence is a girl's name in France - Laurent is the male equivalent. I like Laurent but we know too many sadly.

I'd really like to help but can someone please explain to me what a Eurotrash name is? I'm clueless....

flyingcloud · 20/09/2011 15:45

Eurotrash is a bit of a English snob term used to describe aristocratic Europeans (thereby denigrating their lesser value titles). It's not really what I think by the way! I just want vaguely exotic European names like

Oohh I'm on a roll here

Conrad
Augustin
Constantin
Anatole

And for girls
Constanza
Felicia

etc

Love that link - people are even suggesting names for forthcoming royal babies! Bingo.

Seriously, I'm not looking to use any of these names (and most of them would annoy DH no end - they are good ammunition to make my existing suggestions look better).

Mind you - Claudine is pretty...

Great source of amusement on that site - thanks Percy.

Giselle99 · 21/09/2011 18:21

I think my name (Giselle) fits the bill...

I also like Angelin, Camille, Claudine, Carmen, Mathilde, Nico...

flyingcloud · 21/09/2011 20:28

Great work. I love Ines and Beatrice - again DH won't do either of them. Giselle is lovely too - but we know one and it wouldn't be appropriate to use it!
