Baby name remorse

My baby is going to be one soon and I'm still not happy with her name! :( I know I sound crazy but just can't get over it. I worry her name will give other kids a reason to make fun of her or bully her and she'll hate it. The name was chosen as a compromise to please her older brother and dad but thinking back they would've got used to any name if I'd insisted. The whole family esp big bro and sis and her dad are used to it, is it really possible to change? any one been through this? please help with advice and please be kind as I feel so bad and guilty about it already :( Thank you

I honestly think there's nothing to worry about. It's a beautiful name. If you had called her Princess or Rainbow then I'd be leaning towards the name change.

Thank you all. I'm gonna get personalised stuff with her name on and shout out her name out loud to get used to it whether i change it or not, I'm sick of myself thinking about this all the time and want to hit my head against the wall sometimes! not really, you know what I mean! I even feel myself avoiding saying her name with other people or strangers as if I'm ashamed of it! how sad! Looking at this its really reassuring, thank you. Dilligaf81, may I ask what you changed it from and to what? Is it similar at all and how did you talk to your dh about it? Do you have other kids who had to get used to the change as well, how did you convince them to switch?

I knew a Meana at school - spelt like that - and she was popular, friendly, never had a problem. In actual fact I'd never even thought of the "mean" connection until I read your post, having known her for 7 years.

Hope that helps, think Mina sounds pretty.

I grew up knowing a Mina from one of the eastern block countries- sorry can't remember which- who didn't pronounce it Meena but Minna. That may be a solution if you don't want to confuse your child.

Mina is a beautiful name though, unusual and pretty. Be proud of it and she will have confidence in it.

I like the name Mina. Kids tease for all manner of reasons at school, I have an unusual name and it was other things that kids picked up on when I was young. I wouldn't second guess yourself :)

I love the name Mina, it's on my shortlist Smile I'd add a middle name if you're really unsure.
