Help. DH wants to call DS Boris

It started as a cute, joke name for the bump / unborn baby which is great. But it has really stuck and DH wants to call him Boris when he is born.

Its wrong isn't it?

I actually rather fancy Boris Becker. Blush

Rhubarbgarden · 14/08/2011 19:58

I think Boris is a great name, and I would use it if I didn't prefer my chosen boys name. Actually I used it in the past - my favourite guinea pig was Boris too, Miss Beehiving.

I really, really don't like Milo. It sounds unfinished, and I dislike the chocolate drink.

LetUsPrey · 14/08/2011 20:01

I like the name.

One of my friend's cats is called Boris.

Ivortheengine8 · 14/08/2011 21:04

What about Noris instead?

I like Boris. Simple, classic and easy to pronounce in lots of languages. Really dislike Milo (chocolate drink).

Horris?

Milo reminds me of the Tweenies (the purple one?), Boris, ummm not really my taste. Isaac is what DD would have been if she was a DS :)

The Who had a song in the 60's called Boris the spider.

BuntyPenfold · 15/08/2011 09:21

I quite like Boris :)
People come and people go, the blond buffoon may well be bald and retired from public life by the time your baby is at school.
Hugo and Rafe are names I love, absolutely vetoed by DH 'you're not serious are you?'.

marriednotdead · 15/08/2011 09:42

I went through the same nonsense when I was pregnant with ds (14).
Xp loved the name Boris despite the fact that everyone laughed whenever he mentioned it. Mayor Johnson wasn't even around back then. We agreed on a less controversial name but he still tried once more when we went to the register office- I can still see the incredulous look on the woman's face, followed by relief when I told her to ignore him!

Boris lives in our house in the guise of ds's first teddy that nanna bought him Smile
Please do NOT use it even as a middle name, it's simply cruel.

Boris the spiiiderrrr.

I have a mate called Boris, but he's got a Russian mother so it can be excused.. otherwise, no. It's cute in the abstract, but in reality, nah. My friend hates being called Boris anyway.

catgirl1976 · 15/08/2011 18:30

married I thought I was the only one - it feels nice to know I am not and that others have got through it :)

Agree with Jan its cute in the abstract but not in reality!
