What would your name have been in a parallel universe?

Taken inspiration from another thread and wondered what my name would have been had I been born with a Y chromosome.

Apparently I would have been a Jonathan which I think I would have quite suited.

Samuel. Can't see it myself! But I don't really suit my actual name either, I don't think.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 12/08/2011 09:10

Anthony John apparently. My Mum once told me it was after someone she was engaged to before my DF. Actually thinking about it I will have another chat with my Mum and find out more Smile

Just been told as well that it would have been Jonathan Robert and knowing my family probably shortened to JR!

DH would have been Sherry!

Dominic. I like that and wanted to call ds Dominic but DH disagreed.

NevermindtheNargles · 12/08/2011 09:39

Gary.

Gary.

effingwotnots · 12/08/2011 09:43

Daniel or Richard

SquishyCinnamonSwirls · 12/08/2011 09:44

Ermmmm dunno! Shall have to ask my Mum :)

LilBB · 12/08/2011 09:45

Mark. Sister would have been Martin and brother Megan. Bit of a theme!! None of us actually have M names either.

thesurgeonsmate · 12/08/2011 09:53

Andrew. Which is very much the same sort of name as my actual name. Medium in length, recognisably nam-ish sort of name. Although it is a tiny bit more Scottish than my actual name.

LaWeasel · 12/08/2011 10:00

Simon.

I think, TBH, that my parents and I just do not have even remotely similar taste in names! Oddly they gave me a girl's name that had been very very popular... just as everyone else decided they didn't like it. Hmm

pinkgirlythoughts · 12/08/2011 10:03

Ryan. My sisters would have been Max and Josh.

PuppyMonkey · 12/08/2011 10:04

I was going to be James. Mum was convinced she was having a boy, while the woman in the hospital bed next to her in labour ward had been convinced she was having a girl. Both of them were wrong - and they simply swapped the names they'd been planning. HmmConfused

I often wonder how that James turned out...

thesortinghat · 12/08/2011 10:16

Puppy, thats a lovely story, but awkward though if the other womans girls name had been horrendous but she loved James.

PuppyMonkey · 12/08/2011 10:21

The other woman's girls name was a bit left field tbh.Grin I've got used to it but, let's just say I have a conversation about it virtually every day of my life!

thesortinghat · 12/08/2011 10:28

Puppy, you have to share it now. :o

thesurgeonsmate · 12/08/2011 10:33

That makes the story even better, though, doesn't it?

PuppyMonkey · 12/08/2011 10:36

Ok, drumroll it's............. Oonagh

have got used to it but when I was growing up I cursed that bloody woman in the next bed.Grin

helendigestives · 12/08/2011 11:15

I would have been Liam. I like it.

pommedechocolat · 12/08/2011 11:17

I would have been David. They used it for my brother when he appeared two years later.

pommedechocolat · 12/08/2011 11:18

Oh and totally off tangent - I quite like David and db suits being a Dave but the other week I had to sit through the inlaws slagging off the name for 20 mins! All quite aware that I have a db called Dave that they have met.

I think name tactlessness is weird.

kellestar · 12/08/2011 11:21

I would have been Jock, my mum thought it was lovely. My younger brother is Jack.

MiL chose Sydney for a boy and Robin for a girl, DH arrived and they went with Robin in the end.

DD would have been William.

thesortinghat · 12/08/2011 11:57

Puppy, that's a lovely name but a big jump from James. :)

Kellestar I think you had a lucky escape

I would have been one of many Stephens my age, instead of being one of the many s

Oswald. Thank goodness I wasn't.
