I've taught a boy Brook this year. He was tough enough to carry it off.

redheadbedhead · 28/07/2011 20:46

i thought oisin was pronounced OSH-in... at least the one I know says it like that!

RedHotPokers · 28/07/2011 20:46

I know an Eden who is in his thirties. He got called Edam in school.

I also know a 2yo boy called Farley, and a 4yo girl called Skye.

spottyock · 28/07/2011 21:08

I know of a River and Sky (no, I'm not trying to be funny or clever.) Both are boys.

vividgingerchilli · 28/07/2011 21:11

We have a Bracken. It's a rabbit - but it is male.

LCarbury · 28/07/2011 21:16

I have met girls called:
Eden
Sky
Angel
Brook

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 28/07/2011 21:17

Eden - vaguely aware that someone I used to know called their son this. I was shocked, and at the time thought "and I thought you were normal"
Sky - girls name Skye
River - River Phoenix
Angel - have a second cousin (girl) with this name. She is wonderful. The name is not
Brook - again, grls name Brooke
Bracken - never heard of anyone called this. Sort of OK IMO
Farley - the man who invented te delicious Rusk
Ocean - surely not?

muminthemiddle · 28/07/2011 21:40

I know a girl called Eden.
A woman called Bracken
A couple of female Brooks
and know of a girl called Angel who is the complete opposite and everyone does snigger at the mention of her name.

thisisyesterday · 28/07/2011 21:53

FebreezeYourJeans · 29/07/2011 20:57

Sorry nappyaddict just saw your reference back to my post. The Bracken I knew was a 7 yr old boy (and a bloody handful if that helps)

Nagini · 29/07/2011 21:04

Brook is a male character in Pokemon.

I know a girl and boy called Eden.

Skylar is a girl's name, the wife in Breaking Bad is called that. She's cool.

Nagini · 29/07/2011 21:06

farley farts

Galena · 29/07/2011 22:28

I taught a girl called Eden, I know of boys called Blue and Coast.

DD is a Skye (thank goodness the general opinion is that it's a girls' name - although I don't know if it's an ACCEPTABLE girls' name on MN! Grin ) and have also taught a Skye.

Stars22 · 31/07/2011 21:41

The only ones that i think of as boys names are Oisin and River. All the other i know some girls named them, also only no a bracken that is a dog. Wasnt the little girl in doctors named Bracken a few years ago. we have a Oisin at preschool doesnt seem a problem with pronouncing.

proudfoot · 01/08/2011 00:46

Just remembered this thread!

Since then I have read posts from Mumsnetters with sons called Eden, Beau, Asher, Asa, Brook, Skyler (Sky for short) and a daughter called Bracken.

mayanna123 · 23/04/2012 21:20

I know a male Eden - he's 14 and very cool.

MarySA · 23/04/2012 21:28

I've not known anyone with these names. I didn't know most of them were names. apart from Sky for a girl. Maybe Eden in a book I read once.

CharmedLife · 23/04/2012 21:30

I taught an Eden and an Angel. I also have a friend called Sky and a French friend called Oceane.
