i know a miley under the age of 5 but her first name is millie, her family use miley as a nn.

As others have said, it's not actually a real name & just makes you seem like a weird Hannah Montana fan. Assuming you're not 13, please don't call your DC this, they will be forever associated with Miley Cyrus. Shock

The snobbery on this board does my head in sometimes!
Miley is nice and would only not use it if your surname begins with M or ends in ee sound.
I know a Mialie. She is 8, very clever, very nice parents. Loads of people call her Miley.

You like it, Spangle, others (including me) don't. I don't see anyone who has been rude and horrible, just honest, it's a God-awful name.

Don't be silly. If you don't want to hear what people think then don't ask. Go to the Miley Cyrus website and ask there. You'll get 100% approval, I guarantee it.

I have to admit I don't like it all that much, but only because it just doens't really sound like a name to me (Miley Cyrus for example only had it as a nickname)

But if you love it it doesn't really matter hwat other people think

and i agree that if you ask what people think of a name you have to be prepared for some people to say they think it's awful!
You can't only thank those that said they like it Confused you wanted opinions, you've had opinions....

i had a lot worse than that when i asked for opinions on DS2 and DS3's potential names! I still used them anyway because i liked them.

Well that's the other thing, as TIS says, if you really like it, why give a toss what people think? I didn't ask about dd's name because I don't care what people think of it. It's your baby not ours so call her the name you like not the name that a group of random strangers likes.

it's not rude to say you think a name is awful when you ahve been asked your opinion of it!

if you'd said "i;m calling my baby Miley, isn't it lovely" then yes, it would be rude for someone to turn round and say "oh how awful"

but you ASKED what people thought. and people have told you.

People usually want honest opinions on baby names here. Don't take it personally, it's just that people have different tastes.

Of course if someone says they've already chosen the name, that's different and no-one usually makes a negative comment.

OK look, we don't agree on the name. But seriously, if you like it, it doesn't matter a bit what people think, they can get stuffed. Choosing a name is one of the fun bits so pick something you like and sod everyone else.

Yes but I wouldn't say to someone its awful if I didn't like it I'd say not my cup of tea or somthing on them lines not its awful that's all I was saying and if my opinion wasn't nice I wouldn't put it I did ask for peoples opinions but didn't expect people to put awful and horrible

Seriously, I'm not keen. It's not awful imo, just not a great name either. I;ve heard worse, but heard so many nice names too. It sounds like a nickname to me, not a proper full name.

I wouldn't really want the Miley Cyrus link myself. I would assume everyone would think I'd chosen such a name because of her. I have nothing against her per se, just wouldn't want people thinking that I chose my baby's name in reference to her.

As a nn I think it is fine by the way.

I know of two baby girls given this name in the last two months.Have to say i'm not keen but then i prefer classic names...
