I need help! I'm due twin girls in 2 weeks, but am stuck about names! I absolutely love the name Sapphire. For me, its a perfect name. But I just can't find another girls name I like as much as Sapphire, and I really really don't want to let go of it for two other names I only quite like. Please please help me! What names do you think go with Sapphire well??

Rather liked Scarlett myself (nod to HRN) or Steel Grin

GetOrf · 27/06/2011 08:30

lol at Curacao and Delft

Bumperlicioso · 27/06/2011 08:52

Ooh loving Lila, Marina and Iris.

Bumperlicioso · 27/06/2011 08:54

Ooh and Coral. God, I'm going to have to get a rabbit or something or I'm going to start wishing for another child just to name them.

nooka · 27/06/2011 09:09

Steel is what came to my mind too. I'm not sure why your dh dismissed another gem name but not another blue name. Both are way too matchy matchy for me. I think with twins, especially if they are identical you really need to make sure that their names are not too pair like, because many people will see them first and foremost as a pair and not as individuals in their own right.

So I'd look for somethign with a similar feel, but no more than that. Ianthe, Miranda, Estelle/Estella or most of the names on Melindas list.

Of the shortlist I think that the only one that could possibly work is Indigo, but it's not a very feminine sounding word to me. I imagine that a small Sapphire woudl most likely be Saffy.

Hedwig3 · 27/06/2011 09:57

I agree that you need to find something with the same 'feel' to it but ignore meaning/colour/gem, just look for a name you really like.

I know that is easier said than done but I think you are actually making it harder because you really need to keep an open mind.

A similar 'feel' for me:
Estella
Arabella
Mariella
Angelica
Seraphina
Delilah
Genevieve
Persephone
Annalisa
Gabriella
Aurora

Out of all the names I think Indigo sounds best.

chipmonkey · 27/06/2011 10:31

How strange! There was an identical thread a few months ago! That lady decided on Estella.

Another vote for Indigo here!
My other suggestion (that I don't think anyone else has put yet) would be Leilani.

(I love the name Sapphire btw but my STUPID brother named his STUPID cat that name, so I have had to remove it from my list... gggrrrrr).

ragged · 27/06/2011 19:34

Strange indeed, chipmonkey :(.

cantfindagoodname · 15/08/2017 17:03

You could go with Max (which can be for a boy or girl) to go with Sapphire, though I'm sure I've seen these names somewhere else before Grin

Aqua?

You are seriously considering naming a child Aqua?

Out2pasture · 15/08/2017 17:11

Three sapphire name posts in as many weeks.........very strange

CabernetSauvignyoni · 15/08/2017 17:12

Marina or Indigo - You simply cannot inflict Aqua, Azure or Midnight onto a child.

brightlightceiling · 15/08/2017 17:14

And Tatiana

calmanban · 15/08/2017 17:17

Seeing as the twins in question are nearly 6 years old this is a bit pointless.

Pssst, just putting our heads round the door to say that this thread was started in 2011 (so the OP's probably decided by now) Wink
