I need help! I'm due twin girls in 2 weeks, but am stuck about names! I absolutely love the name Sapphire. For me, its a perfect name. But I just can't find another girls name I like as much as Sapphire, and I really really don't want to let go of it for two other names I only quite like. Please please help me! What names do you think go with Sapphire well??

Queen Sapphire and one of those blue names on your list sound like names for a pair of cats or ponies, not babies.

fairieswearboots · 26/06/2011 19:08

Sapphire and Estella

Northernlurker · 26/06/2011 19:24

I think the reason you may be having trouble is because Sapphire is a very difficult name to match. It's also going to be very difficult for your dds and their friends to say. The sounds do not lend themselves to being phrased by a toddler. Any chance you could use it as a middle name?

BulletWithAName · 26/06/2011 19:34

Serafina/Seraphina would go quite nicely I think.

Dillydollydaydream · 26/06/2011 20:00

Ivy, Iris, lilac, sienna, willow?

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 26/06/2011 20:04

Eek Sapphire and Serafina make me think of a pair of Afghan hounds. Sorry.

SheCutOffTheirTails · 26/06/2011 20:07

I quite like Sapphire, actually.

But no to theme names. Although Azure has a certain ring to it.

Sapphire and Azure - I wouldn't myself, but if I met twins called that I'd think it was cool.

chocolateyclur · 26/06/2011 20:13

Savannah? I love Savannah but I'd never be allowed to use it.

Bumperlicioso · 26/06/2011 20:13

Aww I actually like Sapphire. Dd1 was very nearly called this then I came to my senses Grin

I like MelinaM's list.

ensure · 26/06/2011 20:18

Azure is the most fitting with Sapphire.
Oh wait.
Would she get called Ass for short?

cece · 26/06/2011 20:23

To second what northern says about sapphire being difficult for a toddler to pronounce it is true. I had a pet called Sapphire and my son struggled to pronounce her name until he was 4 at least.

henryhsmum · 26/06/2011 21:18

P.s. I think Lila would go nicely with Sapphire.

IHeartKingThistle · 26/06/2011 21:21

I agree with fairies - Estella is perfect. Very sparkly.

Indigo might get confused with the boy's name Inigo?

henryhsmum · 26/06/2011 21:25

Just got an idea from another thread, what about Violet or you could vary it to Viola?

Clary · 26/06/2011 21:26

Iris is good and follows the blue theme.

Also has the advantage of actuall ybeing a name (unlike Midnight or Marine, tbh.)

Marina oooh that's another good compromise.

MissHonkover · 26/06/2011 21:29

Marina is nice, I also like the suggestions of Miranda and Coral.

Does it matter that the pronunciation of Sapphire isn't toddler-friendly? She'll only be a toddler for a short time!

Ihavewelliesbuttheyrenotgreen · 26/06/2011 21:49

Its a really tricky name to find a 'pair' for

Autumn
Lorelai
Clover

MrsSnow · 26/06/2011 21:51

Sapphire and Marina

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 26/06/2011 22:53

I do know a pony called Sapphire.

I immediately thought of Steel, to, GetOrf Grin.

What about:

Cora
Imelda
Ianthe (means Violet)

Belljar71 · 26/06/2011 23:10

Topaz came to mind.

ZhenXiang · 26/06/2011 23:24

Iris
Cyan
Ceil
Teal
Cerulean
Topaz
Neptune
Delft
Cobalt
Curacao

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 27/06/2011 00:50

Definitely Indigo.
