If we like Gwennan and Siobhan, what else will we like?

DH has finally come up with two names that he likes.

Gwennan is out of the question, as good friends have used Gwendolen. It is too similar.

Siobhan is out of the question, as we are Welsh and English. I just do not feel a very Irish name, such as Siobhan, would feel "us".

We do not mind a Welsh or English girls name. I'm English, DH is Welsh (with an English surname).

DH loves Seren. I'm just not feeling it.

Geneveive is too long. We are looking for one or two syllable names. Same with Rhiannon, plus its one of my best friends names.

Anna - would be on my list, but for an Anna I do not like.

Love the name Iris, but the S on the end, does not go with our surname.

On my list, separate to DH, are Lara, Faye and Carrie. I also like Helena and Isabel, but DH does not want more than two syllables.

Lara has been the lead name for a while, but DH is just not feeling it. DH's lead name is Seren, which I have tried to love, but can't.

I LOVE the names Cerys and Carys, but s's on the end of name do not go with our surname. I would like Kerry, but it has been ruined by Katona.

I like Anwen, but prefer Bronwen. I think we tried Bronwen, and said it out loud with our surname for a few days, but neither of use were feeling it.

Just googled, Anya, as apart from handbags, I have not heard of it. Its coming up Russian. I'd like the name to be Welsh or English.

Serena - sorry, DH will not consider more than two syllables.

Megan has been used by DH's cousin. So, there would be two Megan's with our unusual surname.

Teleri is my favourite ever welsh name, along with Iola. I love them both. It is too many syllables though, and Iola has been taken by family friend.

I don't want too unusual a welsh name, to go with our english surname. I know that sounds odd.

Morwenna is a cornish name. Unfortunately too long, and no cornish heritage.

Just not that keen on Anya. I like Anne, but its my aunts name.

I love Meredith, but think of Meredith Kercher.

Meryl is unattractive to my ears.

Olwen is too unusual welsh. I have told DH that it needs a name everybody can spell, pronounce easily, particularly with my English relations. For instance they would be fine with Sian, Carys, Rhiannon - but these have been ruled out. Owen is on our boys list.

DH's sister has a Bethany, so Bethan is too close.

Seren - oooh, DH would be liking this Seren love in. Its his favourite name. My favourite is Lara.

Elin - potential with this name. Ticks the boxes, and I like it. Would it matter that best friend, has just used Elin as a middle name for her daughter?

Sian - has been considered. I like it, but dont find it pretty. DH likes Sian too.

Angharad - I LOVE this name. It is so beautiful. Unfortunately DH is being strict on his two syllables.

Yes, but the nicknames for both would be Gwen.

Karen (or the less common variation Caron).

Combines some of the elements you both like, and is not over-used atm.

Gwenno's a lovely name Belgo (DD1 is one!)

Aislinn - I dont like this spelling, but I love the Aisling spelling (pronounced Ashlyn). It is irish though, and quite unusual, and would be mispronouced lots.

Kirstin - I like this, prefer it spelt Kirsten. Also love the names Kristin and Kirsty. Just dont think these names go very well with our surname.

Mary - love. It is my mothers name though.

Georgia - like, but not with our surname.

Zara - LOVE this name. I suspect DH will think of Zara Philips. He suffers from reverse snobbery.

Hannah - love, but my cousins name

Alice - love, but associate it with a bully from school. I also like the name Alys, but not with our surname.

Jane - LOVE. It is my name!
