It is a pretty name, have never viewed it as "chavvy" and even if it were if you like it go for it!

smashinghairday · 12/06/2011 20:23

No, it's beautiful.

usualsuspect · 12/06/2011 20:24

No

onepieceofcremeegg · 12/06/2011 20:25

Not at all.

(ignore the Lauren character that Catherine Tate "does")

SherbetDibDab · 12/06/2011 20:25

No but Catherine Tate ruined it with her 'Am I bovvered?' thing.

darleneoconnor · 12/06/2011 20:25

I think in freakonomics they said it was one of the most middle class names but in the UK that Catherine Tate character maybe has made it a little chavvy, but it wouldn't look out of place on a posh child iykwim.

Maybe those 2 names together will sound like Sophia Loren, though.

southeastastra · 12/06/2011 20:25

no but i think you're a chav

methodsandmaterials · 12/06/2011 20:26

No, but using the word "chavvy" is horribly tacky.

thelittlefriend · 12/06/2011 20:29

Not at all

pilates · 12/06/2011 20:38

no

Bandwitch · 12/06/2011 20:40

I think it's a tiny bit 'tired'.

I agree that together it sounds like sophia loren Confused

I like Laurel though. just that one letter changes freshens it up and makes me appreciate it again.

howzaboutthat · 12/06/2011 20:40

It's a lovely name.

Not in the SLIGHTEST bit chavy.

I think it's very continental and chic.

We considered it for DD1 but went for something a bit frillier in the end.

Love it though, not chavy at all.

SloganLogan · 12/06/2011 21:26

I like it.

sharbie · 12/06/2011 21:28

no not chavvy

fedupofnamechanging · 12/06/2011 21:39

I like it

LawrieMarlow · 12/06/2011 21:50

I don't like it personally, but not due to any perceived chavviness - just not a name I like.

Jojay · 12/06/2011 21:51

No, not chavvy.

rachel1970 · 12/06/2011 22:08

I'm not keen on Lauren, I'm afraid. But I don't get this obsession with 'labelling' names Hmm.

twinklypearls · 12/06/2011 22:09

Do you like the name? That is all that matters.

I think using the word chav makes you beneath anyone that you would probably label a chav.

proudfoot · 12/06/2011 23:45

No, it's not chavvy.

swanker · 13/06/2011 11:09

I think Lauren is a perfectly nice name. Laura us too.

I like Laurel even better though.

MelinaM · 13/06/2011 11:12

It's okay, but do agree that it's a bit 'tired', it had a moment back in the early 90's.

How about Lara? ...so chic, and goes well with SophieSmile

GwendolineMaryLacey · 13/06/2011 11:13

It's old hat and I don't like it. Love Laura though.

mopsyflopsy · 13/06/2011 11:30

I'm not keen on Lauren. It sounds a bit dull/dated to me.

oohlaalaa · 13/06/2011 11:40

No. I like the name. I think of Lauren Bacall
