Hello!

Hosanna for a girl...any thoughts?

You never know - you might have a boy next time. Lucifer is indeed lovely.

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 26/05/2011 23:14

We're not finding out and this is the last child. I'll leave that name so you can choose it.

My sis is Rosanna, much prettier I think!

CeliaDeBohun · 27/05/2011 18:15

Rosanna is a beautiful name. Hosanna is just awful.

JamieAgain · 27/05/2011 18:16

Sorry, no

What about Leah or Susannah? - both also biblical

JamieAgain · 27/05/2011 18:18

Or :

Mercy
Faith
Blessing
Gabrielle/Gabriella
Joy

CeliaDeBohun · 27/05/2011 18:18

Miriam's a nice biblical name and not too common.

CeliaDeBohun · 27/05/2011 18:20

Or Azaria? Lilith?

JamieAgain · 27/05/2011 18:21

I like yours, Cote

MeantToStopAtTwo · 27/05/2011 18:40

Actually, I think even Beryl might be preferable to Hosanna.

Heavens, I'm turning into a bitch. Sorry!

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 27/05/2011 18:49

I veto all of the obvious Biblical choices as they're hideous.

Still if you all hate Hosanna, I might recommend you stick to original names like..hmmm..Sarah (Biblical) or Chloe (Biblical) to name but 2 from the top 20 list of popular names, where most people on Mn seem to scout out names.

JamieAgain · 27/05/2011 18:53

Hang on just a cotton-picking moment Lady, before you get all insulting, what about my non-biblical-but-sort-of-religious-but-not-boring ones?

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 27/05/2011 18:53

I know a person with each of those names...that makes it dull for me. I don't know a Hosanna.

Blessing-Trinity is the name of the Nigerian carer for my Grandad.

Blessing-Trinity. I mean really.

I will put my thinking cap on

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 27/05/2011 18:59

Indira

JamieAgain · 27/05/2011 19:00

Well really

noid · 27/05/2011 19:01

If it's part of your cultural tradition to use names like Hosanna, why not?

Personally, I think SING Hosanna, SING Hosanna, etc every time.

JamieAgain · 27/05/2011 19:02

to the King of Kings

CeliaDeBohun · 27/05/2011 19:03

Nowt wrong with being a Nigerian carer Smile.
Although Trinity-Blessing would sound better, admittedly.

You did ask for people's opinions on Hosanna and, presumably, you wanted honest answers. If you really like it that much, go for it - as you say, it's very uncommon and (if the response on here is anything to go by) it's likely to remain rare so if that's important to you then Hosanna would be an excellent choice.

DaisySteiner · 27/05/2011 19:04

I don't know a Hosanna

There's a reason for that...

schobe · 27/05/2011 19:04

How about hallelujah?

Now we're talking.
