Talking about popular and trendy names: My name is not very common. I don't think it's ever been particularly popular and I rarely come across anyone with the same name. It's not weird or made-up or anything like that. Although it can be used as a nick for some more well-known names, it has always been a standalone name. It is short.

Anyone care to guess it? :)

Spoke too soon and posted a second too late :)

EdithWeston wins the prize! Yes, it's Kay. Will it ever be fashionable? What do you think?

Oh wow! Grin

I've only ever met one in RL (an adult, and I think that was a nn, not her full name) I like it - no idea if it'll be fashionable though

NerfHerder · 19/05/2011 20:09

I knew a Kay at school- she was incredibly pretty... are you?? Envy

excellentadventure · 19/05/2011 20:22

The 70s? Errrr, I was a teenager in the 70s! Don't think I was ever pretty, let's just say averagely nice-looking. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder Wink

I always felt cheated as my parents did that "put what you're going to call her on the birth cert" thing. Otherwise I would have been Katherine, called Kay by them, but with a lot of other options within my grasp.

I knew two Kays at school - none since though Smile.

MrsRhettButler · 19/05/2011 21:25

I knew a Kay once, she was incredibly pretty too.....

Nice name

ManicAnnie · 19/05/2011 21:46

I love the name Kay.

KittyBigglesworth · 19/05/2011 22:11

Kay is an attractive name. I see it as an abbreviation of Katherine anyway.

It always reminds me of Caius College, Cambridge which doesn't make a lot of sense as that is pronounced 'keys'! I think I make the assocation because the Caius/Keys of that college was involved in medicine and I know two Kays, one a researcher and a another a doctor. A mish-mash of medical associations!

The actress who played Effie in Skins has the name, Kay - she's fortunate to have a face that is not merely pretty but also interesting - a good arrangement of features for conveying teenage angst!

WiiUnfit · 19/05/2011 23:06

I like the name Kay, but Effy from Skins is "Kaya Scodelario", not a Kay... :)
