Here's the latest list of DD girls names. Not really attached to any of them (more DH and I kinda agree on these) so feel free to do your worst Smile

Juliet
Aurelia
Marianna
Jasmin
Sylvie
Helena
Maria

Need to get Dh to make a decision so opinions welcome!

What is the problem with -la at the end? As I was reading through the various names you have considered, I immediately thought of Mariella, which has elements from a number of names that you like, e.g. a bit like Aurelia, a bit like Maria/Marianna, even Juliette). But then I spotted no -la, but not sure why not.

MuffinMouse · 17/04/2011 22:39

Our favourite name is Mariella but we can't have it as we already have an Isabella...

Ooops, sorry OP! Like Juliette. Marianna is nicer than Marietta (Mariette is better) or Marina. My dd went nameless for a good while after my CS.

FebreezeYourJeans · 17/04/2011 22:41

I love Juliet, love Sylvia, sylvie less so.

How about Arden?

MuffinMouse · 17/04/2011 22:43

Mmm - quite different. Not sure though

Oh, well if you already have one tragic heroine, why not two Smile

Isabella and the Pot of Basil (Keats)
Mariana of the Moated Grange (Shakespeare via Tennyson)
Wink

Julia

Silvina
Aurora
Evelina
Estelle

Juliet would be the nicest, imo, Maria is nice but I think its more of a middle name, Helena is very nice, strong, classical, yet feminine

How about Arwen? Good luck on Tuesday :)

oohlaalaa · 18/04/2011 06:56

Juliet is my favourite, without the extra -te ending. I think Juliette is slightly flouncy, extra letters not needed.

I like Julianna, Julia and Judith too.

givemushypeasachance · 18/04/2011 07:11

Marianna reminds me quite a bit of marinara sauce.

On a personal note I'd pick Juliet; everyone knows how to spell and pronounce it, and it's lovely.

Bonsoir · 18/04/2011 07:13

Juliet - very pretty
Aurelia - pretty
Marianna - very pretty indeed
Jasmin - no
Sylvie - please don't even think about it
Helena - dead dull
Maria - no

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 18/04/2011 07:17

Jasmine but spell it right.

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 18/04/2011 07:21

didn't read the whole thread - sorry! Jasmine off the list. I think you should keep it anyway. Wink

exoticfruits · 18/04/2011 07:27

Juliet or Helena

frakyouveryverymuch · 18/04/2011 07:43

Juliette or Marina

I teach a Mariette and a Mariel (and lots of Marie-X)

frakyouveryverymuch · 18/04/2011 07:46

Or what about Marilyn? Or Marion (but doesn't go so well with Christian I suppose).

Nospringflower · 18/04/2011 08:11

Another vote for Jasmine here.

gorionine · 18/04/2011 08:24

What about Marielle then ,Muffinmouse?

TBH having an Isabella and a Mariella is not shocking, and I would go for it if I really liked the name.

bambiandthumper · 18/04/2011 12:55

Marina is lovely

gorionine · 19/04/2011 06:26

It's for today isn't it? All the very best to you!Grin

squeak2392 · 26/04/2011 19:54

I love all of them!!
Maria isn't ordinary - Marie is. Also, Marie isn't that great on a baby. I spent work experience in a nursery and there was a little Marie, who was really cute, but every time I heard her name it just felt so weird.
Maria makes me think of red gems.

My favourites are Juliet, Sylvie and Maria, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
