looking for a name similar to nevaeh

Hi peeps
wondering if anyone can help me.....
I've come across the name nevaeh (ne-vay-ah) and love it as a second name and goes really well with the first name we think we will use for our dd.....
but then i realised it was heaven spelt backwards and thought it was maybe a little cheesy (no offence anyone).
So does anyone know of a name that sounds similar or should i just go for it and use nevaeh.....but not point out to people that her name is heaven spelt backwards. but will people notice and think i chose it cos of that..?
or maybe i should't worry about what people think .....
any thoughts or suggestions please

People know it's heaven spelt backwards. They know because its talked about. It's a pretty notorious name. I have used it in conversation as an example of naming gone mad.

Niamh is a good suggestion. It is often pronounced 'NEE-uv' so if it's the multiple-syllable vowel sounds that you like, that might fit the bill.

For what it's worth I have seen Nevaeh spelled Neveah instead, and have wondered whether those parents liked the sound and look of the name but wanted to avoid the heaven thing. Of course it's also possible that they didn't know that it's supposed to be heaven spelled backwards, or that they didn't know how to spell heaven.

It isn't a name I'd use, to be honest. I think the 'cheesy' factor is as much related to the fact that it's a very recently made up name, as it is to the heaven thing.

But if you really like it, maybe Neveah is an option.

Similar sounding- I teach a Nereya (disclaimer- may be made up) and a Nuria (def not made up, is Spanish).

i know the name will not be to everyones taste (which name is....?) but i do like the sounds of it.
really not sure i'll use it though if it is notorious and most people know what it is. i was checking if it was as well known as i wouldn't have realised it was heaven spelt backwards if i'd not come on here and researched.

just go for Niamh! i think the whole word backwards thing is a bit cheesey.

Nevaeh seems to be pronounced pretty close to Nivea, the face cream brand. Not sure I wouldn't smile if someone told me that was their baby's name, but I wouldn't say anything awful. It's your choice at the end of the day. I'm still trying to force Phlox past a barrier of 'traditional' family members!

Nia is a Welsh name, Neya is pretty....?

nahla? is that halle berrys dd name? makes me think of the mum lion in the lion king....whatever, i love it!

Have you thought about the Welsh name Noilleh? Pronounced something like Ne=th-ly, I think.

Or there's always the Spanish Natas. Sorry, I don;t know how to do the little sideways squiggle accent on the A.

And there's always Gehenna. I think that's a lovely name.

Nevaeh is only known because it's usually referred to as 'oh fgs, heaven backwards, what is the world coming to'. I know all names are made up at some point but it's just a shade beyond ridiculous. Most people I know can't say it without rolling their eyes. I know two baby Nevaehs actually. Both hyphenated. Nevaeh-Mae and Nevaeh-Rose. The hyphen does little to improve it.

I'm glad people have explained how to pronounce it; I always got to 'nev' and then guessed the rest.

For a similar name, how about Jayden? [tongue in cheek]

i have been well and truly put off using nevaeh, just thought most people might not actually know it was heaven backwards and wanted some reactions without having to discuss with people i know. there's way too many eye rolls though and i'm not going to subject my child to a chavtastic name...lol.

Bronze do you have another daughter? I am struggling to think of a name for DC3 (a girl) that goes with Nyah and could do with some suggestions!

what's the first name you have chosen?

Our chosen 1st name for DD is Laila (spelt that way cos i don't like Layla and i don't want misproununciations with Leila). We have liked this name for many years and now its become more popular than i'd have liked but me and hub don't love any other name as much as this.

As Laila is arabic in origin i'm stuggling to find a middle name..... for e.g I like Eloise but thought an arabic first name and french 2nd name might look odd??

We were going to call her Laila Hope (as she is an IVF baby so it has meaning for us) but then 'Coronation Street' went and ruined it by having a baby Hope and now it reminds me of Corrie....lol.

Nothing would look odder than an Arabic first name and a madster invented middle name.

You need to trust us on this one.

Hope is lovely as a middle name. Not everyone (me included) bases their real life choices on events on a soap op.
