Hi peeps
wondering if anyone can help me.....
I've come across the name nevaeh (ne-vay-ah) and love it as a second name and goes really well with the first name we think we will use for our dd.....
but then i realised it was heaven spelt backwards and thought it was maybe a little cheesy (no offence anyone).
So does anyone know of a name that sounds similar or should i just go for it and use nevaeh.....but not point out to people that her name is heaven spelt backwards. but will people notice and think i chose it cos of that..?
or maybe i should't worry about what people think .....
any thoughts or suggestions please Smile

How about Laila Joy?

growing3rdbump · 28/03/2011 09:27

Laila Faith?

dan1981 · 28/03/2011 10:34

Thanks for the Joy and faith suggestions but Hope is my fave (taking the coronation street thing out of the equation...lol).

Here are the middle names on my list (not in perference order):

Laila Hope
Laila Maeve
Laila Scarlett
Laila Elula Grace (this one might be a bit much though....blame the hormones)
Laila Eloise
Laila Arabelle (means answered prayer - arabella doesn't go with surname)
Laila Maya Grace
Laila Anais

I've added Grace as a 3rd name to make it sound nicer with our surname, but i wouldn't have Grace on its own as its quite popular.

Any thoughts?

Thank you Smile

Nevaeh.

Hmm
OTheHugeManatee · 28/03/2011 14:36

Hell, why not just call her Nivea? You might even be able to get some free moisturiser if you tell their PR department.

mumatron · 28/03/2011 17:17

i love Anais. I really wanted it for dd2 but a very close friend used it a few months before.

Iman is Arabic for Faith - Laila Iman?

If it's the rhymey sound you liked of Laila Ne-vay-a:

Estrella (Spanish for star. pronounced Estreya)
Soraya
Marijna (Dutch, pronounced Ma-rain-a)
Tailor Grin just kidding.

HappyWifeandMum · 29/03/2011 18:54

UGH. I cannot even tell you my disdain for such ridiculousness in naming! I am still waiting for the next level of lunacy to emerge with the first person to name their child Dog, because it is God spelled backwards! Or how about Legna, or Slegna...

I seriously give you credit for not liking the name for the heaven-spelled-backwards thing, but this is so totally not a name worth putting on your child. Except for those who actually use it, it seems to evoke the same response all over the globe! The ones who use it all seem to have this delusional concept that they are the first one to discover the name, and the rest of us have never heard it before. Thus every. single. one. of them has felt it necessary to introduce their child and then exclaim with exuberance that "Nevaeh is HEAVEN spelled BACKWARDS!!!!!" Wow. How brilliant.

I did know a woman years ago however who named her DD Heaven Mercia... A much better option IMO if you want to go that route. Still not my style, but sensible at least.

I wish you the best!
