They are the only ones me and dp agree on.

It's now in your hands Wink

Julia would be more favoured nowadays. God knows why.
Dylan is trendy in all the right ways, I dare say.

collision · 22/03/2011 18:47

Julie reminds me of the drippy girl off Corrie. Could be due for revival but I prefer Juliette.

Dylan is not my sort of name at all.

And they do not go together at all but some say that doesnt matter.

WuggleMump · 22/03/2011 18:48

I'm not having twins Shock

We don't know the sex....unusual these days I know. I don't watch the soaps either.... Julie ?

RightUpMyRue · 22/03/2011 18:49

Julie sounds like Dylan's mum.

WuggleMump · 22/03/2011 18:50

Dp is Welsh btw, hence Dylan....Is it considered 'trendy' these days ?

Every time I hear Julie I think of Ali G.Much prefer Julia or Juliet.

Dylan is good if you have welsh connections I think.

booandbump · 22/03/2011 18:59

I prefer Julia to Julie and I love Dylan.

Rhubarbgarden · 22/03/2011 19:07

I prefer Julia too. Dylan is ok.

PepsiPopcorn · 22/03/2011 19:40

I like both.

Julie is due a comeback IMO. It worked for Julie Andrews!

Like Dylan too, very cool.

MrsDaffodill · 22/03/2011 19:41

Honestly? No.

Julia is lovely.

SecretNutellaFix · 22/03/2011 19:47

For me, Julie is in the same league as Wayne, Kevin, Michelle and Yvonne.

Very late 60's and early 70's.

I know of an awful lot of Dylan's, most whose name is mis-pronounced as Dill-an instead of Duh-lan. I do live in Wales btw.

ValiumSingleton · 22/03/2011 19:49

qUITE a few Dylans out there but that's not a reason NOT to choose it. Julie on a baby makes me laugh but I like Juliet and Julia. Just fashions I know but I can't help being influenced by them!

ValiumSingleton · 22/03/2011 19:50

lol at 'Julie sounds like Dylan's mum'. That's so true!

pointydog · 22/03/2011 19:59

I prefer Julia. I like Dylan.

twolittlemonkeys · 22/03/2011 20:01

I quite like Julie although I don't know any Julie's under the age of 50. Can't put my finger on why Julia or Juliet are so much more popular. I like Dylan, it's DS1's middle name.

twolittlemonkeys · 22/03/2011 20:02

Julies don't know where that rogue apostrophe came from!! Blush

spiderlight · 22/03/2011 20:03

I love Dylan but there were four of them in DS's nursery at one point last year (out of 16 boys in total), so yes, it's trendy at the moment!

duzida · 22/03/2011 20:26

I think Julie is lovely and my DP would never agree. Go for it. Julie Christie, Julie Andrews, Julie Delpy, beautiful!

As long as you pronounce it Duh-lan not Dillon then it's one of my favorite names in the world. Not so sure about Julie, but at least there aren't millions of them. (yet, you may have started something Wink)

ThatsMyName · 22/03/2011 21:26

I'm a Julie (and I'm early mid 30s so defintely under 50!).

I'd have preferred to have been a Julia or a Juliet but I have a lovely surname that sounds better with Julie and would sound wrong with either of the other variations.

It's bound to be due for a come back soon...and if it's not then at least you can guarantee that there won't be half a dozen others in her class at school Smile

PepsiPopcorn · 22/03/2011 21:39

Why does it have to be Duh-lan? I like the Dillon pronunciation - isn't it just an Anglicised version, like so many names?

lostinwales · 22/03/2011 21:48

not sure PepsiPopcorn, maybe because that's the pronunciation I'm used to and it sounds wierd wired weird to hear it the other way. The OP's DH is Welsh I think. Dh has a lifelong friend called Dylan and his wife pronounces it Dillon and it just seems strange that she hasn't learned to pronounce it the way he grew up with, but that's just me I suppose.

baskingseals · 22/03/2011 21:53

really like Julie - it's French and chic

Mum2Pea · 23/03/2011 08:56

Not a fan of Julie, especially after Ali G! but do like Juliet .......

Love Dylan, makes me think of a very good looking, cool, stud!
