Last minute name wobbles - Rosina or Jemima?

DH and I are expecting the arrival of DD2 any day now. My original shortlist was:

Rosina (family name)
Tabitha
Jemima
Nancy

I like names which are classic but not too popular - DD1 is Eliza, which we both love.

DH didn't particularly like any of the names on DD2 shortlist but came round to Rosina with the nn Rosie. His only other suggestion was Kathryn - which is now out due to royal wedding.

I still like Rosina but as we found out the sex this time and have discussed names with family and friends, people have already started using it which has taken the shine off it a bit for me. I am also worried the popularity of Rose names is set to explode over the next few years.

So now I am tending mote towards Jemima. DH has said that after watching me go through labour he knows he'll let me name her whatever I like WWYD?

I prefer Jemima out of those two.

Initially I thought Jemima, but reading that Rosina is a family name, your other DD is called Eliza, and you'd use the NN Rosie - I'd definitely go for Rosina.

Not Nancy. Eliza and Nancy - bit too much of a Musical influence going on there! I'd go for Jemima. Or Roseanna?

Rosina is too close to Rosine (raisin in German ), but that may not bother you of course. I prefer Jemima but can't think of any nice nicknames - Jem, Jemmy?

I like the suggestion of Roseanna.

Not keen on Rosina (German connection here too - reminds me of raisin danishes).

Rosemary would go well with Eliza and you could still use Rosie.

I think that Daphne and Eliza go really well.

Would you pronounce Rosina Ros-eena or Ros-eye-na? The former does indeed sound very close to Rosine (raisin in German). I think I prefer Jemima, nickname Jemma?

It's pronounced Rose-eena. I don't think I could go for any other Rose name as it would just seem a shame to use something so close to but not the family name. Plus it is my favourite out of all the Roses.

I'm not worried about it sounding like raisin in German as we don't have any connections to Germany. I wouldn't use it if it meant something horrible or rude in another language, but I quite like danish pastries with raisins

Lol at the musical connection of Eliza and Nancy. I hadn't realised that it would sound like I was raising my own collection of cockney songbirds!

DD1 suggested Mima as an nn for Jemima. I imagine she'd be Jem as a teenager.

I am pleased no one has suggested I need to make more of a compromise with DH.

This is a great distraction, I am currently sat on the loo trying to decide whether I'm having a contraction or not

Jemima Rosina is lovely - unfortunately mn has to be Elsie (don't ask).

Don't think they rhyme too much, both are lovely names in their own right.

As long as DH hasn't said an outright no then I would say its ok. Sometimes you just can't both be totally in love with a name.
