Last minute name wobbles - Rosina or Jemima?

DH and I are expecting the arrival of DD2 any day now. My original shortlist was:

Rosina (family name)
Tabitha
Jemima
Nancy

I like names which are classic but not too popular - DD1 is Eliza, which we both love.

DH didn't particularly like any of the names on DD2 shortlist but came round to Rosina with the nn Rosie. His only other suggestion was Kathryn - which is now out due to royal wedding.

I still like Rosina but as we found out the sex this time and have discussed names with family and friends, people have already started using it which has taken the shine off it a bit for me. I am also worried the popularity of Rose names is set to explode over the next few years.

So now I am tending mote towards Jemima. DH has said that after watching me go through labour he knows he'll let me name her whatever I like Grin WWYD?

I think Eliza and Jemima do sound a little too ryhmey, I'm afraid. I like Tabitha and think it goes well with Eliza.

Jemima is my pick for a girl. Has been for years, hopefully I will get to use it one day!

I love the nickname Mima - too cute.

My grandmothers were called Nancy and Rosina (but known as Rosie).

So I like either of those.

I know this probably isn't much help but I love all your names, perhaps Nancy would be at the bottom but I cannot place the other 3! I think whatever you choose will be lovely. (BTW currently 38 weeks and Eliza is my number 1 name for a girl this time and one of my other girls is Rosie, often called Rose, and I think Eliza 'goes' with her name, and the others, 2 more girls!).
Good luck.

I think it's amazing how all your names sound good together (although Nancy only really goes with Eliza).

I used to know a Rosina and I thought she was so pretty because of it. Jemima I love, but I think Rosina's the less popular name. Also, since it's a family name.

I come up with names I love all the time, then I meet or hear of someone with the name and go off it straight away, so I would only use names I'm sure this didn't happen with.
Eg. I love the name Hermione but have never heard of anyone with that name (apart from on censuses) so would normally be worried of losing interest, but the fact that Hermione Granger is such a well known name hasn't put me off using it, so I know it'll be fine.
I don't really understand what you mean by 'taken the shine off'; if it's like my Hermione instance, then you should go with Rosina, as your family love it, but if you think you'll regret your decision (which I've heard isn't that common, even amongst parents who didn't really like the name in the first place), then go for Jemima.

I think it does matter what DH thinks of name - don't use something he doesn't like. However, if you plan on having more kids and his opinion is just 'doesn't love', then go with the name you want and let him have a larger part in naming the next one.

Sorry it's so long; I'm bad at explaining Smile.

Also, I don't know, but I think Rose is more common as a middle name, so Rosie should be fine for first name.
