Hi

just for fun, did your baby make the list in 2009 or 2010? if so where did they come?

My ds hasn't made the list at all in the last 2 years but then it is quite an old name.

my daughter was 4,and my sons 8 and 10,but one son never made it on the list haha..My children all have old fashioned names,so i think i made good choices.

In the 300s. But the name seems to now be on every MNers list and lumped in with all the 'trendy' names.

Weren't popular at the time but both now in top 10

If dc5 is a boy then his name is at 2837.
If dc 5 is a girl then her name is at 2535, unlisted, 556, 4564 or 1365

There were 13 babies named ds's name last year (2010) in England & Wales.

Not sure what you meant with 'made the list' - do you mean the top 10, top 100 or top 500 list?

Ds's name would be in the top 500, but far outside the top 100.

Where is this list??

DD's has been in the top 100 for years: but getting lower down every year, which is fine by me!

Has anyone got a link to the list of ALL names given last year? I'd love to see it.

I've only seen the top 100 lists and neither of mine are on there. DS's name is very out of vogue and DDs is an apparently well-liked, and old, established name, but doesn't make the lists. Which is fine by me!

Someone recently posted a link to that list, I'll see if I can find it - it contained ALL names given last year and showed how often each name was used (seem to remember there were over 8000 baby Jacks last year alone... ).

Thanks for the link Mum2Pea. On that (US) list my ds's name was used 805 times last year (position 375). My dd's name was used less than 400 times.

Interesting, as here in the UK their positions are the other way around.

That US list is great - the Americans seem much more open minded and creative about names, as the list is so long and interesting .

DD1 is not there (but I got bored) but there is 72 "unknow" poor girls .
DD2 is safely in the 700.s

ds was 72nd - I'm quite surprised about that, I thought they'd be the other way round.

My dd born in 2008 name made the top 100 apparently in 2009 at about 97 :/ ?

DS1 used 17 times (position 1358)
DS2 used 132 times (position 311)

DS1's name has been dropping in popularity while DS2's name appears to be on the rise.

DS used 14 times (position 1568)
DD used 444 times (position 122)

Hope neither of their names rises up into the top 100....

DD number 33 in 2009 she is 20 weeks old and I havent yet met another baby with her name.

ermm - which link on that page KenDod - how are you smallsniffle and others finding how many times the names were used?

I can't work it out either!
