Hi

just for fun, did your baby make the list in 2009 or 2010? if so where did they come?

My ds hasn't made the list at all in the last 2 years but then it is quite an old name.

Me neither Blush

MamaLazarou · 04/03/2011 12:26

My little boy's name was 3227th most popular name in 2009.

Can't find the 2010 link on that page, but I'm sure it will have risen in popularity.

FlingonTheValiant · 04/03/2011 12:29

DS isn't on the list. I feel a bit sad.

MamaLazarou · 04/03/2011 12:31

Not at all? You mean it's even more unusual than Siddhartha?

FlingonTheValiant · 04/03/2011 12:34

Apparently! They don't list names with fewer than 3 though.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 04/03/2011 12:35

please someone explain how to find names that aren't in the top 100.........I just keep finding lists of top 100 and I know my DS's names won't be any of them.

FlingonTheValiant · 04/03/2011 12:38

Do you see the tabs at the bottom? Work along them til you reach tab 6

shufflebum · 04/03/2011 12:40

I haven't got any tabs at the bottom Confused

FlingonTheValiant · 04/03/2011 12:42

It's kendodd's link, then you need 2009 B N S in excel format. Then there should be tables, it's table 6

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 04/03/2011 12:42

tabs at the bottom of where???? which link - the ONS or the American list one??

FlingonTheValiant · 04/03/2011 12:45

ONS

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 04/03/2011 12:46

aha - found it now - I couodn't see tables 4, 5 and 6 when I opened it Grin

DS1 was used 7 times (position 2254) (I know one of those Grin and it's not DS1 Grin)

DS2 - not on there

DS3 - used 3 times - position 4527

sonniebonnie · 04/03/2011 14:49

DS 1568 (used 14 times)
DD 123 (used over 400 times)

Thissideofchannel · 06/03/2011 11:51

Interesting lists. The Americans are indeed more adventurous when it comes to naming their children, wheras a lot of English seem to be more conservative Smile.

Both mine are still outside of the top 100 - hope it stays that way.

jellybeans · 06/03/2011 15:20

None of my 5 are above top 30, 4 being outside the top 100.

JeanLouiseFinch · 06/03/2011 20:57

Only 48 others with dd's name that year.

ItsJustAName · 06/03/2011 21:29

My son was on the list in the first five decades of last century, and my daughter was on the list for the last five decades lol!

KingofHighVis · 06/03/2011 22:10

Did you accidentally misspell their names? Most of the names towards the bottom seem to be misspelt.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 06/03/2011 22:26

Nope - my DS's names are definitely spelled correctly. I had a look at the other years - DS2 doesn't appear to be on any of the other years lists they have either Shock!

mayanna123 · 07/03/2011 09:34

No, both my childrens' names are correct spellings of their names - both very old names that are easy to spell and pronounce. They're just not 'trendy' at the moment Smile.

mayanna123 · 07/03/2011 09:35

And don't forget that some 'misspellings' are actually correct foreign spellings of a name.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 07/03/2011 09:38

nope mine are just the correct spellings Grin

sonniebonnie · 07/03/2011 09:53

Mine are also the correct, traditional spellings.
