What do you think of Atticus as a middle name?

I think we have decided on Finn as a boy's name (still working on a girl!) and I like Atticus for a middle name. I admit, it is mostly as I love 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and just saw it was 50th anniversary and the name came to me. I know it's a bit unusual so wondered what you all thought?
Any suggestions for a girl if we like the name Finn for a boy? Was thinking of Nell but see that most people didn't like that on another post and hadn't thought about it rhyming with smell!!

Harper or Scout ??

Go on ... you know you want too Grin

TorcherQueenie · 01/03/2011 10:43

I don't feel like Atticus really works with Finn but then it shouldn't matter only what you think should matter in the end and of course that your child won't suffer for their name later in life.
My DD's full name is Eleanor-Rose Lily Cheyanne, as you can see they hardly match but each name was important to us.

For a girls name how about Quinn?

AnnabellaFagina · 01/03/2011 10:43

Very cool

Janus · 01/03/2011 10:47

DH suggested Scout and Harper! I think Harper is actually growing on me!
When watching a programme on the book I found out Harper Lee is actually called Nell Harper Lee, I never knew that, and we had picked out Nell months ago. It seems like fate!

Love it!

How about Finian Atticus? DH prefers Finley, I prefer Finn, Finley Atticus does sound better though I think ...

Love it. Wonderful book and a really cool name.

randomimposter · 01/03/2011 10:58

Really like Atticus as a MN.

Used to love Finn, but sadly it's become a bit meh to my ears now as so many locally. Which I'm :( about.

Prefer Finnian or even Finnegan to Finley.

I'm gunning for a Jem (Jerome) if we get another DS... if that helps the TKAMB theme!

PepsiPopcorn · 01/03/2011 11:15

Agree that Finley Atticus flows better than Finn Atticus.

Hassled · 01/03/2011 11:16

Oh I love Atticus. Anything + Atticus would work.

coatgate · 01/03/2011 11:16

Was only thinking about the name Atticus this morning and wondering why more people don't use it.

revoltingrhymes · 01/03/2011 12:48

Finn Atticus is great!!!

Girls names - Winter, Greta, Tabitha, Isadora?

DELHI · 01/03/2011 14:42

Finn Atticus, or Finnatticus - bit of a mouthful

ThisIsANiceCage · 01/03/2011 14:48

If you use Finn with Atticus your DS will spend his life explaining that, tho Atticus is from the book, Finn isn't. (Unless it is, of course.)

tammytoby · 01/03/2011 15:09

Atticus is lovely and much nicer than Finn. I agree that Finn Atticus doesn't sound great together especially when said quickly.

How about Atticus Finn? That sounds lovely Smile.

rachel234 · 01/03/2011 15:17

I love Atticus. Not keen on Finn personally.

evamummy · 01/03/2011 15:23

Agree with others that Finn Atticus sounds like finnaticus Smile. I really like the name Atticus and would use that as a first name - very cool and less common than Finn.

PepsiPopcorn · 01/03/2011 15:46

Finn Atticus is a bit like fanatical.

poppydaisy · 01/03/2011 17:50

No, Finn atticus is not good. I do like Atticus and prefer it to Finn, which has indeed become very popular.

lilly13 · 01/03/2011 18:12

honestly, all i can think is the hedge fund that blew up.... sorry!

Tillyscoutsmum · 01/03/2011 18:16

Love the name Atticus but agree that it needs a more than one syllable first name. DD is Matilda Scout as a nod to TKAMB. We were tempted by Atticus as a mn for DS but thought it would look like we'd only ever read one book Wink

BelligerentGhoul · 01/03/2011 18:20

Atticus is brilliant but I'm not fond of Finn.

Atticus Finn sounds loads better than Finn Atticus. :)

Now Gideon Atticus sounds good - or Timothy Atticus. Finian Atticus deffo sounds better than Finn but not terribly fond of Finian either.

Fabian Atticus?

beanlet · 01/03/2011 18:21

Finaticus. No.

I hate Atticus, but if you really must, Finlay Atticus is much better than just Finn. But what about Finn Harper?

I just really hate Atticus - it's harsh, ugly, and doesn't lend itself to any good nicknames.

rachel1970 · 01/03/2011 19:01

Atticus is a lovely name. Too nice to use as a middle name imo. I'm not keen on Finn or Finn Atticus, sorry.

BendyBob · 01/03/2011 19:07

I'm not keen on Atticus. It's a bit um..sorry..pretentious..
