BeeMyBaby · 21/02/2011 14:32

arabella is nicer

piratecat · 21/02/2011 14:35

i think a nickname would end up being Bella, with these two, as it naturally falls off the tongue.

thunderbird69 · 21/02/2011 14:35

lol, yes is a bit bovine!

Think you need an 'm' in the name for Mabel as a nn.

scurryfunge · 21/02/2011 14:36

I like Arabella.

Clarabella looks like you couldn't make your mind up.

OliveMalay · 21/02/2011 15:03

I prefer Arabella. Yes, Ara can be a nickname for this.

Clara is nice, it doesn't need "bella" on the end. Also like Claribel, it's not quite as frilly as Clarabella.

noddyholder · 21/02/2011 15:04

I prefer Isobel or just Bella

GetOrfMoiLand · 21/02/2011 15:05

Arabella is lovely.

Clarabella sounds like a character from the Sound of Music.

randomimposter · 21/02/2011 15:09

Clara is lovely
Arabella is nice if a bit frilly
Clarabella is too much IMO

winnybella · 21/02/2011 15:10

Arabella is lovely.

icapturethecastle · 21/02/2011 15:11

Arabella

But others have said like Clara as well

breatheslowly · 21/02/2011 15:25

Clarabella sounds made up. Arabella does sound rather posh. I would go for Clara or Isobel/Isobella or something completely different if you are bothered.

randomimposter · 21/02/2011 15:34

I've just remembered. I love Araminta (Minty) too... :)

ValiumSandwich · 21/02/2011 17:07

i like Clara and I like Bella but together, to thomas the tank engine.

Arabella is just awful.

What about Christabel or Maribel? they are beautiful. So much easier to say and shorten too.

cowboylover · 21/02/2011 18:34

Arabella is lovely with lots ofoptions for NN's if needed

Clarabella I instantly had a fluffy care bear picture in my head so a no from me on that one!

starsandsnowflakes · 21/02/2011 18:36

arabella - nice, very nice nn bella

clarabella - too much i think

pointydog · 21/02/2011 18:52

Really dislike both.

Clara is nice.

suspiria · 21/02/2011 20:34

Arabella is the nicest

Clarabella makes me think of Thomas the Tank Engine

Rhubarbgarden · 21/02/2011 20:37

Both a bit fussy for me. I agree Clara is better.

peeriebear · 21/02/2011 20:43

Clarabel is one of Thomas's carriages :) Clara is lovely.

HopingForAZoo · 22/02/2011 02:17

We want to have an Arabella with Bess/Bessie as a bn. If you think its too fussy pair it with a more practical middle name.

HopingForAZoo · 22/02/2011 02:18

Nn. Obviously...not bn.

BigChiefOrganiser · 22/02/2011 02:39

Arabella, or just Clara

JiltedJohnsJulie · 22/02/2011 06:53

Prefer Arabella to Clarabella but they are both lovely, and no, not too posh or bovine Grin

Much prefer Clara and Clarabel to Clarabella though.

Also like the Pankhurst connection with Cristabel.

Helzapoppin · 22/02/2011 09:03

Arabella is lovely and very elegant for a grown up as well as a little one (but I'm biased as I've got a little Arabel- which has been pointed out to me has other farming connotations- arable?!?).

Clarabella is pretty but does have Thomas the Tank connotations!

Our Arabel has nn Bella (which I love, but MIL has decreed vulgar...hmmmm...) and Boo.

diddl · 22/02/2011 09:14

Prefer Arabella.

Mabel sounds bovine imo.
