Following my compulsory attendance at 7yo dd2's first music 'concert' (I use the term loosely, and yes I was bored) I whiled away the time doing a little research on the list of 'performers', which led to the following conclusion.

If you are middle-class and live in a reassuringly expensive but still very slightly boho area, possibly but not necessarily in London, and are currently pregnant with a girl, you are probably considering one of the following names:

Maya
Mia
Pia
Tia
Ella
Ellie
Lily
Lola
Evie
Edie
Esme
Izzy

These are all nice names. But everybody else thinks so too. So if you want to avoid in future years having half a dozen Boden-clad little mites do a double-take every time you call one of said names in a public place, you may wish to consider branching out a bit.

Those are the enormous council estate (ghetto) names in Plymouf :)

Boden names here are Flora, Beatrice,Eliza.

Those names have become very common round here. I find them all dull and boring to be honest.

Thank god I rocked the boat and went with Eva.. But I can't believe there isn't a Sophie , Amalie or Scarlett in there as well...

For the record though, my parents gave me an unusual (but okay) name and I have an unusual surname. Have found on skype and facebook, a girl who looks very similar to me with the EXACT same name! And she was not best pleased when my Dad kept ringing her on skype at odd hours from Australia and saying "Hello Dolly!" (pet name) down the phone.

So based on my scientific research, just go with the name you like as it's a big wide world out there and chances are, someone else has a similar moniker.

And I don't understand what your clothing brand has to do with it. Seems a very bizarre English thing - this class obession .

Personally I find most of those girls names too popular, a little dull and very 'trendy'. I prefer longer less common names.

I'm middle class and have considered the names Maya, Mia, Ella and Esme.

I am not considering any of those names.
I don't wear Boden.

I think I may be MC. But I have a lot of WC values.

It's all a bit ridiculous if you ask me.

I have 3 DD's head to toe in Boden and they all play violin, none of their names are on that list.

In dd's class we have Izzy, Maya, Ellie, Evie and Lily (out of the 10 pupils in the class!). Its a private school, don't know if that makes it MC or not.

Who cares what 'class' someone is or what 'class' these names belong to.....!

Let's just say that these names are very widely used and have become a little dull as a result.

The MC tend not to have such short names - more like Henrietta or Elizabeth.

And what does playing the violin have to do with it now ??
