I've posted on here before for opinions and found it really helpful HOWEVER still no decision for our new born gorgeous girl...we just can't agree on anything.
Opinions please on these...

Lara Grace, ( does it sound like we were celebrity inspired though!)

Anya Grace ( would they get called Ann )

Kezia

Eliza Hope

Eloise ?second name ( would it be shortened to Louise?)

DC's love Iris or Violet...but are these becoming popular this year.

Tilly Grace..( husband loves but is it a bit "cute"

any other ideas from the ones I've suggested would be great.
I don't want top 30 preferably , would like something a bit different but not too much so DH wouldn't go for it.

Thanks for your help

Tilly can be Matilda but called Tilly so she has a grown up name if you find TIlly too "cute"

Eloise wont be shortened to Louise, more likely to be Ellie.

Lara doesn't sound celebrity (it is not a fruit, made up or a day of the week)

I've always liked the name Kezia.

The only one that's not working for me is Eliza Hope. Nothing wrong with either name, it just isn't flowing nicely to my ears. Eliza Grace works. (I think it's the combination of the A and H sounds - two soft sounds often don't flow together)

thell · 14/02/2011 10:27

Tilly can be short for Matilda - so how about Matilda Grace?
Then you can call her Tilly but have the option of a less-cutesy version.

Otherwise, I love Anya. I don't think it would get shortened to Ann, unless she wanted it to later on.

Looks like you need to prune the list together, one stage at a time. With DD we found it easy-ish to get it down to a choice of two, then after a bit of time we both came to the same conclusion.

Good luck!

thell · 14/02/2011 10:28

great minds, soupdragon! Grin

TallulahDoesTheHula · 14/02/2011 10:36

Tilly can also be short for Natalie or Ottilie type names...

I really like Lara Grace

QuestionNumber · 14/02/2011 10:38

Congratulations! :)

Lara Grace, ( does it sound like we were celebrity inspired though!) - nice, and I didn't think of celebrities

Anya Grace ( would they get called Ann ) - again nice. Think a nickname is unlikely.

Kezia - not keen, sorry

Eliza Hope - prefer Elizabeth to Eliza

Eloise ?second name ( would it be shortened to Louise?) - nice and I don't think it would be shortened. Eloise Grace? Eloise Violet?

DC's love Iris or Violet...but are these becoming popular this year. - not keen on Iris but Violet is lovely and still quite unusual

Tilly Grace..( husband loves but is it a bit "cute" - I dislike Matilda and Tilly and they are a bit faddy ATM

shouldnotbehere · 14/02/2011 12:33

Lara Grace - lovely name.

Anya Grace - personally not so keen, dont think it would shorten to Ann. Anna is never shortened to Ann.

Kezia - dont like. Sounds made-up.

Eliza Hope - beautiful name.

Eloise - love the name Elouise, I think it would be more likely shorted to Ellie or Lou than Louise.

Iris - beautiful name, not too popular

Violet - beautiful name, not too popular

Tilly Grace - not grown up enough. Its usually short for Matilda.

maltesers · 14/02/2011 12:37

How about Alice Grace? Or Emma Grace?

expectingno3 · 14/02/2011 12:39

Roseanne Grace? Can be shortened to Rosie, Anna etc.
Miranda Grace (Miri for short)
Miranda Violet
I have a Grace Lucy so I'm biased towards Grace! Good luck!

expectingno3 · 14/02/2011 12:40

Sorry I meant top write ROSEANNA not Rosanne.

iloveblue · 14/02/2011 13:16

Lara Grace is lovely

QuestionNumber · 14/02/2011 14:36

Larissa is nice as a full name with Lara as nickname.

MrsDeidreIppy · 14/02/2011 15:52

Lara Grace is nice. Lara is unusual but not too unusual and definately not celebrity.

Anya Grace is a lovely name. Really like Anya, unlikely to be shorterned to Ann.

Kezia- Quite nice but a bit harsh sounding

Eliza Hope- Eliza is quite popular but I do like hope as a middle name.

Eloise is a lovely underused name. Wouldn't be shorterned to Louise I don't think. Middle name could be Hope or Grace.

Love both Iris and Violet and love the idea of her siblings naming her.

Tilly is a bit cute. Matilda would be better, but quite popular

Ephiny · 14/02/2011 16:46

I like Lara Grace - why do you think it sounds 'celebrity inspired'? Larissa is nice too, though I thought it was the 'diminutive' of Lara, not the other way round?
Anya Grace is nice too, don't think it would get shortened though you could use Annie as nn if you wanted.

Don't think Eloise would be shortened to Louise, as someone said more likely Ellie or Elle. Eloise Hope sounds nice to me.

mamacorner · 14/02/2011 18:59

Thanks everyone, looks like Lara Grace is the most popular of the names, which is great since it's my favourite of the choices,
I think our gorgeous girl could well have a name by tonight Smile.

Thanks for your help everyone.

Juliet Grace is gorgeous

fallingandlaughing · 14/02/2011 21:34

I know an Anya and a Eloise (adults). neither get shortened.

Lara Grace is OK

Anya Grace Nice

Kezia hmm.. not sure. Genuineloy. Have never thought about this.

Eliza Hope.. like Eliza but a bit "of the moment".

Eloise nice enough

Iris or Violet like these.. they are popular but I don't think they will go through the roof (Iris seems likely to be more popular than Violet).

Tilly Grace. Matilda Grace better.. agree Tilly a bit cute.

fallingandlaughing · 14/02/2011 21:34

doh.. genuinely

fallingandlaughing · 14/02/2011 21:35

Oops missed your second post.. go with your favourite!

Stars22 · 14/02/2011 21:43

Out of the names you have chosen I really like Eloise the best.

BelligerentGhoul · 14/02/2011 21:45

I love Eloise - wanted it for dd1 (now 16) but dp wouldn't have it.

Eloise Violet is lovely.

LyraBelaqua · 14/02/2011 22:36

Eliza is cute. Lara is nice too. My daughters name is Lyra Emily which I think is the best name in the world. She gets called Liza and Lara as nn's amongst other things.

CointreauVersial · 14/02/2011 22:39

Lara or Eliza.

Tilly may be cute for a baby but a bit awful when you're 40.

ChippingInAuntyToThomas · 14/02/2011 22:40

I like Matilda Grace out of the above options.

ChippingInAuntyToThomas · 14/02/2011 22:40

I don't think Tilly is awful when you are 40.

candleshoe · 14/02/2011 22:50

Be careful to give her a reasonably
'serious' name if you want her to ever rise to the top careerwise:

Can you see 'Poppy' 'Coco' 'Kitty' 'Daisy'
'Tallulha' 'Tilly' etc.

-running the country?
-being head of a banking group?
-being a university professor?
-being a surgeon?
-being a theoretical physicist?

OR are those sorts of names only suitable for 'little girls' really?
