What names can be shortened to Coco

I love the name Coco for DD2 but DH thinks she should have a longer name on her BC. She's due in August so plenty of time, but I can't think of I any names that can be shortened to Coco, but love it too much to let go of it! Can you help?

I think it would work for most C names but especially these:

Caroline
Coralie / Cora
Calista
Calliope
Charlotte

VintageLuxury · 05/02/2011 19:03

I liked Coral/Coralie but DH hated, also, I'm Charlotte! I like Calliope a lot but could that be shortened to Coco?

Colette?

Nicole?

onimolap · 05/02/2011 19:07

I see it as a free-standing name.

If a nn, I would assume the full version was Constance, or possibly Coralie/Coral/Cora.

Janoschi · 05/02/2011 19:18

I think it's supposed to be short for Sorocco... which I quite like. But as other posters say, most C names could be shortened to Coco. I do like Colette personally!

VintageLuxury · 05/02/2011 19:23

Thank you for all your suggestions. I think whatever we decide to call her will never be used when she is young, but Janoschi, I love Sorocco! I had never heard it before but it is lovely! DH also likes it! Yay! Baby Sorocco!

I would definitely use it as a nn. Whilst it's lovely for a baby/little girl, it's a bit "frivolous" for an adult, IMO. I don't know what it's short for, but I suppose anything beginning with C would be OK, though preferably with an "o" in it, as well.

You could have

Catherine
Christina
Cosima (?)
Coral

onimolap · 05/02/2011 19:23

Coco Chanel was called Gabrielle Bonheur, if that helps!

JamieLeeCurtis · 05/02/2011 19:24

Ooooh - Gabrielle is lovely

JamieLeeCurtis · 05/02/2011 19:27

Cordelia
Camille
Caroline

VintageLuxury · 05/02/2011 19:34

We almost definitely never call Coco her full name when she is younger.
Cordelia is super lovely as well! I'm ending up with too many names for baby Coco! For a middle name we want something a bit hippie and boho, any suggestions?

Artemis, Aphrodite, Hestia, Calypso, Ariadne, Thalia, Euterpe, Andromeda, Calliope, Merope, Penelope, Aphrodite?

VintageLuxury · 05/02/2011 19:51

Thank You onimlap! Some great names! I ADORE Aphrodite, and would love it to be Coco's middle name but DH hates with a passion :( DD1 is Honey Valentine, so possibles at the moment are
Coco Summer
Coco Scarlett
Coco Skye (may need another name here though)
Coco Thalia (Thanks onimlap!)
Coco Pearl
Coco Amythest
Love Clementine but too many Cs? Our surame begins with a T
I'm really stuck on middle names, I just can't find anything that perfectly goes with Sorocco/Coco!

What do you think of Coco Paisley? I love but DH is not 100%

OP posts:
JamieLeeCurtis · 05/02/2011 19:53

Hera
Juanita
Marigold
Francine
Lyra

JamieLeeCurtis · 05/02/2011 19:53

Nah, not paisley, sorry

blondiep14 · 05/02/2011 19:54

My good friend is known as Coco to all of our children as many find Chloe difficult to say when little

onimolap · 05/02/2011 19:55

Coco Sumner is Sting's daughter, so you might want to rethink Summer in the middle.

Scarlett and Skye are fine, I don't really like Pearl, and think Amethyst is wonderful.

VintageLuxury · 05/02/2011 20:03

Oops! Didn't realise about Sting's daughter! Summer is definitely off the list! I would love Coco Paisley so I'll wait to see what others think!
DH likes Coco Beatrice, but is it a bit boring? I like names a bit more eccentric!

OP posts:
Janoschi · 05/02/2011 20:08

I'm big on eccentric! Too much so for my DH. I'm trying to get Phlox as a possibility for our DD but no go! Glad you liked Sorocco Smile

VintageLuxury · 05/02/2011 20:11

After a bit of research(!):
1 Coco Saffron?
2 Coco Blossom?
3 Coco Petal?
4 Coco Raine?
5 Coco Willow?
6 Coco Sapphire?
7 Coco Amber?
8 Coco Sienna?

My favourites are 1, 2, 6 and 8
Would love to hear your opinions!

onimolap · 05/02/2011 20:13

Beatrice is a nice enough name, but I don't think it goes with Coco.

How about: Persephone, Alalanta, Amarynthia, Hesperia, Khione, Hyppolyta, Selene, Philomena, Athena?

VintageLuxury · 05/02/2011 20:14

Phlox is lovely Janoschi! I am so so happy you found Sorocco for us! We are definitely calling her that, just the problem of the middle name now...!

VintageLuxury · 05/02/2011 20:17

Thank you onimolap for yet more stunning name suggestions! I agree with you re Beatrice. The only other name DH loved was Clementine like me but I think its too many Cs with Coco.

Coco Phoenix? (I love the name Phoenix, plus she was conceived there!)
