Any thoughts?

I wrote on an earlier thread that I was thinking of using it for DD2 and thought I'd open up it's own thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My great aunt had it as her middle name and I always loved it, maybe better as a middle name?

As someone who likes most old lady names I think this is pretty bad. Just awful how could you hold a tiny newborn and say "this is Queenie". To me its the name of a turn of the century prostitute sorry.

I was at a village fete with my mum who bumped into an acquaintance out with her newborn granddaughter who was called Queenie - granny was clearly deeply unimpressed with the name as was everyone else that heard it. So a definite no no in the 60 plus generation I think Grin.

Used to be my mumsnet nn many moons ago as I loved the character in Black Adder. I would use it for a cat but not a child, sorry.

deliakate · 18/01/2011 13:45

I will have to add my no - OK for a nn maybe, but not to my taste

swanandduck · 18/01/2011 16:54

It is a truly awful name. Reminds me of an old fashioned char lady or a game old bird running an eastenders pub.

spiderlight · 18/01/2011 17:14

The only Queenie I've ever met was an elderly and very fat pony with bad feet. Sorry.

MardyBra · 18/01/2011 17:17

Poor OP, it's not going well is it?

Sorry to add another negative image, but my first thought was old lady sitting in a nursing home smelling faintly of wee.

CoteDAzur · 18/01/2011 17:21

Not OK, ever, not even as a middle name.

fallingandlaughing · 18/01/2011 20:28

Queenie is a fat tabby cat who gets fed Sheba instead of "normal" cat food.

She is not a child. Please - imagine having to introduce yourself as "Queenie". Do you want your child to hate you?

My friend has a little girl called Queenie - she's 4 now and totally gorgeous. Her dad is Japanese and it's a name that apparently is easy for both cultures :)
