Any thoughts?

I wrote on an earlier thread that I was thinking of using it for DD2 and thought I'd open up it's own thread!

OP posts:

i used to love this name when i was about 3 lol
it is kind of cute in a way but i do think it would get some weird reactions if you called your dd this

seeker · 17/01/2011 20:19

No. It is a nickname for Victoria.

And pretty grim even then.

PorkChopSter · 17/01/2011 20:22

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

I know No is a Sentence and all that, but this deserves reiterating.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I know a horse called Queenie. Usually referred to as "Our lickle Queenie".

mangoandlime · 17/01/2011 20:31

My first thought was Adrian Mole

Queenie wanted her pot of rouge just before she died. It was sad!

It belongs in a Martina Cole novel.

Please don't.

beijingaling · 17/01/2011 20:42

I went to school with a queenie from hong kong (I'm 25 so this wasn't years and years ago). she changed her name when she went to Uni.

Terrible name. I even think it's rubbish as a nn.

SarfEasticated · 17/01/2011 20:45

I like it. Wouldn't use it myself, but would think it was a lovely name for a little girl. Like Ruby and Ivy I think. It was always meant to be a nickname though, so maybe use it as a NN

tiredfeet · 17/01/2011 20:45

Noooo.
would just make me think the parent was a bit to hung up on needing a 'unique' name for their child

mannicmummyhavinaiccy · 17/01/2011 20:51

I Love it, can just imagine a cute little toddler called Queenie :) very cute!

magnolia1970 · 17/01/2011 20:52

Wow I'm surprised by the responses. I had a great aunt born circ 1900 called Queenie and have always liked it. Her sisters were called Ruby and Eliza so I've always linked it to those names. Funny hearing how other people view it i.e. a bit try hard.

bronze · 17/01/2011 20:52

Made me think of Lark Rise

blackcoffee · 17/01/2011 20:53

Lovely ..for a carthorse

jojosmaman · 17/01/2011 20:54

I think I may have mentioned this once before but I knew a queenie once. She was in her 60's, had a peroxide blonde beehive and she used to walk around the streets pushing a shopping trolley whilst carrying a bottle of red wine and telling people to f$ck off.

That's a no from me.

expatinscotland · 17/01/2011 20:55

It's an animal name.

Sidge · 17/01/2011 20:59

Dear god no it's a terrible name for a child.

It's no worse and old-lady than Grace, Ruby or Ivy though.

LetThereBeRock · 18/01/2011 12:59

It is worse than Ruby and Ivy imho, and I hate both of those names.

I'm still picturing a Dickensian prostitute.

thebrownstuff · 18/01/2011 13:03

lol @queenie
what's wrong with ruby and ivy? Confused

BuntyPenfold · 18/01/2011 13:06

I picture that over-privileged short woman in the pearls and cardi.

LetThereBeRock · 18/01/2011 13:07

I just hate them. I think they're ugly names,and just awful,though I realise I'm in a minority there.
