We have a short list of Miriam (Mitzy for short ) or Alice. Thoughts welcome please.

Both lovely names, slightly prefer Miriam though although Mitzy is foul. I know a lovely if slightly bonkers Miri.

I have a 2 year old Alice and love it - timeless, classic and not very popular where we are (manchester). Think it suits both child and Adult. Miriam nice too.

Miriam. Alice is ok,but Miriam is much nicer.

love Alice and Miriam is good too.

I love both names but have an 18-month-old Miriam of my own so would vote for Miriam over Alice. I know a couple of adult Miriams and have met a 7-year-old and 3-year-old Miriam since DD2 was born whereas I know many more Alices (including at least one in each year group at the primary school I teach in).

My Miriam is known as Mim by DD1, Mitzy isn't a nn DH and I will be encouraging.

Alice (very biased). Grin

Beware if you are in Scotland that it is often mistaken for Alison. Some of my DH's friends still get it wrong. I have only ever known one other Alice, who I was named after.

Miriam is a gorgeous name. I like the nickname Mim, not Mitzy though (sounds like a pet's name).

Alice is OK.
