I'm due today. There's no sign. (It's because he doesn't have a name, yet Grin)

Here's the shortlist of baby names I'm considering that I generated with Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder. Let me know what you think.

Boys
Angus
Billy
Fergus
Hector
Leo
Moss
Patrick
Sterling
Tobias
Tom

Billy or Tom.

Definitely NOT Moss! Or Sterling.

theagedparent · 31/12/2010 18:45

I like Patrick or Tom

washngo · 31/12/2010 18:48

Fergus or Angus

Bunbaker · 31/12/2010 18:48

Not Moss. One of our neighbours has a sheepdog named Moss. I don't like sterling either. (pound sterling anyone?)

onimolap · 31/12/2010 18:49

Sterling Moss together? (sorry)

I like Angus, Fergus and Hector best.

Patrick and Tobias (Toby) or (Thomas) Tom are all right too.

mumatron · 31/12/2010 18:51

Tobias.

That must be where I'm going wrong, don't hav a name for this one either. 41weeks today

thisisyesterday · 31/12/2010 18:55

my faves:

Fergus
Moss
Patrick
Tobias
Angus

Billy, Leo and Tom are a bit boring for my liking. But there is nothing wrong with any of them

Hector is just a bit meh. Sterling i just dislike for no apparent reason

Bunbaker · 31/12/2010 19:01

"Sterling Moss together? (sorry)"

It looks like a bad imitation, since Sir Stirling Moss spells his name with an "I"

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 31/12/2010 19:01

Of course not Sterling and Moss together - just in a shortlist.

mumatron - I'm convinced of it. Let's name them tonight and I reckon they'll come tomorrow!!

TBH - Sterling is a bit of a wildcard. I knew someone called Sterling once - probably a bit American for me really.

Hector, Tom and Tobias are brill. Leo and Patrick both okay. Don't like Sterling or Moss at all.

Patrick is for the Great Moz, yes? :)

Of course Patrick is in honour of Himself. (DH won't even consider 'Morrissey' - but Moss is short for Maurice/Morris... and, of course, that's why Hector's in there, too)

I don't watch it but I gather there's a Moss in 'The IT crowd' which puts me off it - that and the fact that my DD said it sounds like 'moth' :)

Suggest alternatives, by all means. I've been here doing this since April - so I presumed you'd all be fed up with me by now!

BelligerentYhoULE · 31/12/2010 19:10

Do you not fancy Keats, Yeats or Wilde then? :)

allnightlong · 31/12/2010 19:11

I loved Angus with Gus for short. Tobias is good too really wanted it for DS but DH vetoed it.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 31/12/2010 19:13

I could be tempted of course but DH has unimaginativetraditional tastes.

See - Billy's in there too - (as in 'Billy Budd') - Oh there are so many...

Well I saw the thread title and of course I immediately thought

Stephen
Patrick
Johnny
Andy
Mike

but of your list I like Patrick best and not just for the obvious reason, I think it's a really nice name that everyone knows but which is not actually used that much.

BelligerentYhoULE · 31/12/2010 20:20

Love the fact that this thread has got all of The Smiths fans out of the woodwork! :)

BarbieLovesKen · 31/12/2010 20:35

Oooh how exciting - hope baby comes soon.

Angus
Billy - no, its a nickname - William? I dont like it.
Fergus - dont like it.
Hector - no.
Leo- I like Leon
Moss - definately not.
Patrick - gorgeous
Sterling - I automatically think currency equivilent to me calling ds "euro"
Tobias - gorgeous
Tom - nice slightly meh
