What do you think of Winter as a boy's name? we're running out of ideas and this one seems particularly relevant.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

No. Why not Freeze? :)

snice · 23/12/2010 16:50

or Frosty? Xmas Grin

SilveryMoon · 23/12/2010 16:51

No. I think ypur pregnancy hormones are getting the better of you.
When I was heavy with ds1, I decided I wanted to call him Ford. Thank God I had dp to talk me out of it!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 23/12/2010 16:52

Frosty would be lovely snice, especially with The Snowman as middle names Xmas Grin.

Personally No. Shortens to Winny. I know there are girls called Summer but I think it sounds really lower class (Summer not Winter, Winter actually sounds a lot better).

CristinaTheAstonishing · 23/12/2010 16:52

Icicle would melt hearts.

Nightstar · 23/12/2010 16:53

Silverymoon! You should have gone for Ford, from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?

headfairy · 23/12/2010 16:54

only as a middle name. When is the baby due? dd was due on Christmas day and I did flirt with the idea of a Christmassy name, but I was warned off on here. Poor love has got a crummy birthday, without saddling her with a silly name to go with it!

wildbillhickok · 23/12/2010 16:54

Winter? I think it's more of a girls name really as it always makes me think of Winter de Ballesteros, heroine of Shadow of the Moon, my favourite historical romance novel.

When I was about 14 I going to call any future daughter Winter, after her.

However, I think it's a name best left in the realms of romance novels. Sorry.

LynetteScavo · 23/12/2010 16:54

It's a bit harsh.

BelligerentYhoULE · 23/12/2010 17:01

Terrible imho, sorry. If used at all, I think it might just about work for a girl at a push; for a boy, I really think no.

How about Rowan?

SilveryMoon · 23/12/2010 17:04

Nightstar I have never read/seen Hitchhickers Guide.
The name popped into my head one day at work and I was sure dp would love it so told everyone that the baby would be called Ford.
lol

LetThereBeRock · 23/12/2010 17:25

Awful for a boy.

We3kingsoforientRaahh · 23/12/2010 17:25

There is a very lengthy, fab thread started by Arizonagirl, where she wanted Winter, but for a girl, iirc.

Think she went with Skyler, for her new baby ds.

Will try and link- if she doesn't appear soon....

BerryinClover · 23/12/2010 17:36

How about Berry?

CristinaTheAstonishing · 23/12/2010 18:09

Or Ginger?

Chocolocolate · 23/12/2010 19:12

I think Winter nn Win is quite nice for a boy. If I remember from Arizonagirl's thread, it was discounted as she already had an Autumn.

blackeyedsusan · 24/12/2010 01:51

sorry , i thought Winter was a girls name, along with Autumn and Summer the first thought that came to mind was the cbeebies song that is on 6 times a day...AAAGgghhhh

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 24/12/2010 02:09

No, definitely quite a feminine name IMO.

anonymosity · 24/12/2010 04:11
