Me and my boyfriend love love love this name, to the point where we just cannot agree on any other girl's name. My boyfriend doesn't care, but I am getting a bit caught up in the worry of her being one of about 6 Rubys in her class.

How many Rubys do you all know? And am I being precious? Grin

I know 3 - 2 in DS's school (both age 5) and niece (age 9 months).

5GoldenFimbos · 30/11/2010 13:34

I think it was popular about 5/6 years ago, don't hear many babies of this name now.

I know one Ruby who is 10.

Bucharest · 30/11/2010 13:35

No babies. Just 3 million 7 and 8 yr olds.

EauRouge · 30/11/2010 13:46

I don't know any. I think this kind of thing varies a lot from area to area, there are hardly any Graces or Ellas here but thousand and thousands of Amelias.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 30/11/2010 13:58

I know quite a few - about 5 in the 2-5 age range.

PinkElephantsOnParade · 30/11/2010 14:02

I only know one. She is 7.

Lovely little girl.

exexpat · 30/11/2010 14:13

I know three aged under three, but they are all dogs (two labradoodles and one spaniel, I think).

JiltedJohnsJulie · 30/11/2010 14:16

Sorry, know so many it is difficult to count. Also think it is a name that will date very quickly, think Gemma or Julie. Nice name though and congratualtions.

hatwoman · 30/11/2010 14:18

I know two aged about 11. and a 2-year old devastatingly adorable jack russell.

yomellamoHelly · 30/11/2010 14:19

My niece (19 mo) is a Ruby. (My SIL was always going to call her daughter that name if she had one.) Also know a 10 yo Ruby (sister of ds1's classmate).

nancydrewrockinaroundxmastree · 30/11/2010 14:20

One 9 year old; one 4 year old and a baby.

But wasn't it the second most popular name for 2009?

nancydrewrockinaroundxmastree · 30/11/2010 14:21

Actually I also know a Ruby in her 30's.

fel1x · 30/11/2010 14:22

I know a 4yr old one

flopsy1974 · 30/11/2010 14:31

Well I don't know any, nor have I ever known any.

wigglesrock · 30/11/2010 14:32

I know one, she's 78!! I know more Scarletts!!

spidookly · 30/11/2010 14:34

It is such an ugly name.

sethstarkaddersmum · 30/11/2010 14:34

I know quite a few. There were 2 in dd's year at nursery and there is one in reception and will be one in ds2's year (this is out of a class of about 15....)

JBrd · 30/11/2010 14:45

I know two - both are under a year old. It's definitively in the top 10 most popular names at the moment.

8rubberduckies · 30/11/2010 14:48

It was number 2 in 2009. I know quite a few under 3s, due to having a ds aged 2, and don't know any Rubys, but was just wondering if I'm unusual. Grin at all the pets called Ruby!

I don't know any, apart from older family members- it's an old family name passed down the generations (Robina, Ruby for short). I would have liked to use it but it was suddenly too popular in the media for me. I blame Charlotte Church! :o

TheUnmentioned · 30/11/2010 14:54

i know lots of 3 and unders

rubyslippers · 30/11/2010 14:55

I only know one

asmallbunchofflowers · 30/11/2010 14:56

Zillions of Rubies round 'ere.

CharlieBoo · 30/11/2010 20:38

I don;t know any, live in the south east...I really really like it, but agree it could be annoying if there's millions of them....

Edmundo · 30/11/2010 20:48

There are quite a few around. I know of many more Evie/Eva/Avas though.
