naming the baby after where it was conceived

How do people feel about this? I only know 'famous' people that have done this, not any regular folk. Have any of you done this?
I'm asking because I'm having a think about bump's name. I'm due in April, sex unknown. We probably conceived while we were on holiday this summer in Mablethorpe.
We are in fits of giggles about potentially calling a girl baby Mabel but we both love it too! Not sure about Thorpe for a boy though...
What do you all think?

P.S. I'm new :)

the place our DD was conceived is an actual baby name

DS was conceived in a hall of residence Blush

hf128219 · 06/11/2010 20:48

I would have done it if I knew people could spell.

DaisySteiner · 06/11/2010 20:51

Snap darlene - my ds was also conceived in a hall of residence! We resisted the urge to name him Goldney though...

RiojaLover75 · 06/11/2010 20:52

Yay, go for it! Both names are lovely!

FourEyesGood · 06/11/2010 20:53

Good job you were in Mablethorpe and not Skegness (or Scunthorpe)! If it's a boy, you could go for nearby (Chapel St.) Leonard('s). Grin

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/11/2010 20:55

Mabel is a great name. I don't think naming my DD Ryhope would have been too pretty!

GingerGlitterGoddess · 06/11/2010 21:07

Hmmm, how does Ensuite strike you as a name? Wink

DinahRod · 06/11/2010 21:10

Muses Con..rad, Con....stance... Grin

Mabel is lovely.

coolma · 06/11/2010 21:11

All of mine would thus be called 'Bed'.

grannieonabike · 06/11/2010 21:17

Sofa's not such a good name either.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/11/2010 21:28

You would have to hyphenate en-suite though to be a cool name. Grin

mellicauli · 06/11/2010 21:38

DS1 was conceived in Cockfosters..

Odelay · 06/11/2010 21:40

How does anyone know where they concieved? I don't know where or when it happened, obviously somewhere within about a certain 2 weeks but no more specific than this. is this unusual?

inletcarmen · 06/11/2010 21:40

Mine will have to be called bed too.

Do people really holiday in Mablethorpe Confused Was it one of those caravan parks?

onepieceoflollipop · 06/11/2010 21:44

Odelay I guess it depends on either how specific they are or if they were only having sex infrequently.

For example, if a couple was on honeymoon for 3 weeks in Malaga there would be no confusion.

Or if they were at home say in Leicester and only had sex once that month then they would be able to identify place of conception fairly easily.

dd1 could have been named after a boring cake.
dd2 would have been another "sofa" there is another of those on the thread already I note.

Or

onepieceoflollipop · 06/11/2010 21:44

p.s. I didn't type Or on the end of that post!

wigglesrock · 06/11/2010 21:52

I'm trying to have the nerve to go with Ibiza Grin for dc3. I usually know when I have conceived due to terrible shift patterns of Mr Wiggles!!

mellicauli · 06/11/2010 21:56

Lucky you, Odelay, that you have never had to visit the TTC threads. Those girls would know, I promise you. Clearblue fertility monitor gives you a pretty good idea..

bellastella · 06/11/2010 21:57

Glad some of you like the name Mabel :)
After being given the due date at the dating scan, I found a pregnancy calculator that went backwards as well as forwards and it gave me the date of conception as well as the first day of my LMP. It tied in with what I thought was my LMP date so I was happy with it.
To be honest we probably were having more sex than normal whilst on holiday despite being in a caravan on a caravan park in Mablethorpe with the two other kids as we were feeling quite perky having escaped real life for a week Grin

inletcarmen · 06/11/2010 22:14

I knew it would be a caravan park Grin

MerryMarigold · 06/11/2010 22:41

How about Carrie, after the caravan?

AngryPixie · 06/11/2010 22:58

DD1 could have been Caprice after the stunning island of Capri, however DC2 would have been called Walsall travel Lodge Grin

PricklyThistle · 07/11/2010 02:18

Nairn and Keith. Neither DC has these names Grin

SparklingExplosionGoldBrass · 07/11/2010 02:28

I thought the wanky usual policy was to name DC after where they were born eg Chelsea, Paris. Not many votes for Leighton Buzzard or Grimsby though.
If I had followed either of those leads DS would have been called Mankyfuton Camden or Lewisham Ward 3. To be fair we did joke about calling him Glen as a bottle of Glenfiddich was involved in his conception.

coolma · 07/11/2010 10:12

Actually, had ds been a girl there is a possibilty he would havebeen called 'Denise-Villa-Kassiopi' Triple hyphen - classy or what?
