How do people feel about this? I only know 'famous' people that have done this, not any regular folk. Have any of you done this?
I'm asking because I'm having a think about bump's name. I'm due in April, sex unknown. We probably conceived while we were on holiday this summer in Mablethorpe.
We are in fits of giggles about potentially calling a girl baby Mabel but we both love it too! Not sure about Thorpe for a boy though...
What do you all think?

P.S. I'm new :)

Because we were not on holiday at the time, both were conceived at home, and I have no idea on what occasion etc, so couldn't give them place or date appropriate names.

Ford Fiesta anyone?

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 08/11/2010 00:30

daisy funny that because my DS would have been called Wills....

SparklingExplosionGoldBrass · 08/11/2010 02:18

Mind you I do have a friend/former friend (I never fell out with her, just haven't seen her in 20 years) who is called Mini because she was born in one.

We were in Iceland as the volcano erupted when we conceived DS (due next month) and have joked about calling him Eyjafjallajökull... or more seriously using Jökull as a middle name, which is actually an Icelandic boys' name. However we're going to use Iceland's top boys' name which is used here as well so there's still a link :)

Like Mabel btw, it's our dog's name!

DarciesmumandTTC2 · 08/11/2010 09:08

DD would of been called Southsea if we did that!

Tidey · 08/11/2010 09:10

Used to know a girl called Astra, often wondered if she was conceived in a car.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 08/11/2010 09:11

DD would be Medinat as Sultan Qaboos for conception or Al Khud for delivery. She is neither.

CakeCuresAll · 08/11/2010 09:19

DS would be kitchen counter Hmm doesn't have the same ring to it...

DD would be caravan Blush

I think I'll stick with the names they have!!

I do love mabel though - and some of the other links people have. Loads more interesting a story to tell them :)

lottiejenkins · 08/11/2010 09:26

Ds would have to be called Oxenhope!!!

excitedfirsttimer · 08/11/2010 12:37

Nice idea and a good in joke for you and your DH, just don't tell the child where their name comes from, no one wants to be reminded of their parents doing it!!! Mine would be called Como as we were in Italy at the time.
my grandma was a mabel and she was lovely

Stardown · 08/11/2010 16:53

Hm, Croydon just doesn't have a great ring to it.

Although Hemnes might work if you want to get specific. Grin

jaffacake2 · 08/11/2010 16:59

Sorrento has a certain flair, sadly Avon canal on barge doesnt !!! {DD1,DD2}

Stardown · 08/11/2010 18:20

Avon is nice!

DaisySteiner · 08/11/2010 19:12

Perhaps we should start a club Girlwiththemouseyhair?! DS2 would be called Whiteladies Wink

kat2504 · 08/11/2010 20:39

Milton Keynes doesn't really cut it either for a baby name!

MrToad · 08/11/2010 20:50

DS would have been Belfast (conceived) or Chelsea (born).

Classy huh?
