loving the virtue names right now but need a little help. Which do you prefer? And also, which name do you think would be best for an adult, who may want a fab career one day? The surname is thomas, so would that rule any out? And any other suggs i might love more?

Love Liberty & Honor not very keen on Grace not quite sure why, just never really liked it x

Takver · 14/10/2010 12:12

I really like all the ones you list, but I do know an awful lot of little girls called Grace. (I even know a Grace Thomas amongst them.)

I also like Constance and Hope a lot too.

All of them are good names for an adult, I would say, and mostly either
(a) common enough names for it not to be odd if, say, your Grace is very clumsy or
(b) not names requiring a 'fit' (unless, I guess, your Liberty were to become a particularly authoritarian Home Secretary).

Mercia?

goingdownhill · 14/10/2010 14:11

My DD is Honor I truly love her name. We have never met another. I am always get positive comments about it. I don't want to share it so go for Grace Grin

chickentwizzler · 14/10/2010 17:26

Love Constance, but not with Thomas as surname.

I like Felicity Thomas and Verity Thomas, but these are not virtue names. If they are I need to get a dictionary.

chickentwizzler · 14/10/2010 17:30

Okay, need dictionary, just looked them up:

Verity - The quality or condition of being true, factual, or real.

I understood the meaning of veritable, and verify - but never heard verity used.

Felicity - pleasing and appropriate manner or style (especially manner or style of expression

messylittlemonkey · 14/10/2010 18:33

i love Honour!

Lotster · 14/10/2010 18:36

I heart Liberty.

megonthemoon · 14/10/2010 19:10

I love Honor/Honour - we both really wanted it for DD but it is very similar to our surname so would have been ridiculous.

DD nearly had Patience as a middle name as we had a scare at £6 weeks so everyone including mw was convinced she'd be early and she ended up being 12 days late!

Love Verity.

Don't like Liberty at all

Lilka · 14/10/2010 21:47

I love :

Verity
Felicity
Hope
Honour
Patience
Faith
Harmony
Honesty
Mercy

My FAVOURITES are Serenity and Amity - they are both so beautiful!!

These are Ok:

Constance
Liberty
Temperance
Grace, purely because it is too popular

Lilka · 14/10/2010 21:50

I also really like Remember. The problem is I can't help but think what if she then got Dementia or something.
Its ironic if Honesty turns out to tell massive porkies, but Remember geting Alzheimers would be really painful Sad

DandyDan · 15/10/2010 10:05

Verity and Felicity go well with the surname, but Liberty is good too.

HerHonesty · 15/10/2010 21:11

I have an honor and i love her name and get lots of compliments on it. i love constance but dont like connie. my favourite is modesty but i'm not brave enough!!!

Greenwing · 15/10/2010 21:30

Grace is gorgeous but in the top 10 recently. Bonus for Liberty is that Libby is a pretty nn but it doesn't have the same classic ring to it that the others have.
What about Faith or Hope?
One of my ancestors was called Comfort!

taffetawitchescat · 15/10/2010 21:46

I know a 3 year old Honor - at first i was a bit Hmm but now i actually think it's a beautiful, classic name.

YouNeverCanTell · 17/10/2010 11:42

Not Temperance (too worthy). Also, hard to live with if you like to get a little tipsy from time to time. Agree Grace is too common (although I do like it).

Liberty is my favourite and Constance is lovely. Both work well as abbreviations: Libby and Connie are both nice.

Hope and Joy don't do it for me. (I know a Joy who was a goth and HATED her name!) Verity sounds just a bit too Victorian and Faith is not good. IMO Smile

silkymitts · 17/10/2010 15:38

liberty Thomas goes best.

foreverastudent · 17/10/2010 15:56

Serendipity Grin

I also like Verity and Melody (does that count?)
