loving the virtue names right now but need a little help. Which do you prefer? And also, which name do you think would be best for an adult, who may want a fab career one day? The surname is thomas, so would that rule any out? And any other suggs i might love more?

I like Liberty best not too keen on Honor, don't think it goes as well woth Thomas either. Also like Verity, wanted to call DD this but not allowed.

eldritch · 13/10/2010 12:50

I think all of these are lovely (but I would draw the line at Chastity/Charity/Prudence type names, just too Victorian!)

fayc84 · 13/10/2010 13:18

I think Liberty Thomas sounds really nice.

beccagrace2 · 13/10/2010 13:26

love love liberty, but i'm biased as its my dd1's name, she is 9 and loves it too, only met 1 other. Her friends call her liberty too so no shortening there but we sometimes use lib.go for it!

cumbria81 · 13/10/2010 14:53

None of them, I'm afraid.

Hulababy · 13/10/2010 14:58

I like Grace best and then Liberty. Less keen on Honor.

SirBoobAlot · 13/10/2010 15:00

Honor is horrible. Liberty is kind of "meh" and is very popular. Grace is okay.

How about Temperance?

deliakate · 13/10/2010 15:45

SBA - I like Temperance, but have discounted other T names as not sure about the alliteration.....

Like Liberty nn Libby
Have never met a Liberty, so don't think it's too 'common'

deliakate · 13/10/2010 16:49

No, its not in the top 100 for 2008 even, so I didn't think it was too common, but its not like you hear it and say "is that even a name?!?"

mydadsdaughter · 13/10/2010 16:54

i really like Liberty, have never met one either. I also like Honesty and Constance.

Silkstalkings · 13/10/2010 17:14

Felicity (as much a virtue as Liberty anyway.)

Temperance is a bit harsh once she reaches cider drinking age, think of the crap jokes every time she goes out for the rest of her life. Unless she really was teetotalHmm.

PaigeTurner · 13/10/2010 17:38

I always liked Mercy.

Liberty is ok but don't like the nn Libby.

Bue · 13/10/2010 17:59

I seem to be in the minority - Honor is by far my favourite. It's what I would name a DD if the surname went.

Agree Liberty and Verity go better with Thomas, though.

hocuspontas · 13/10/2010 18:20

Faith Thomas
Hope Thomas
Joy Thomas

Don't like Liberty myself. Sounds like a Flibbertyjibbert (Or whatever the nuns described Maria as in 'The Sound of Music'!)

sophiesmummie · 13/10/2010 18:25

Love Constance, nickname Connie, and Felicity.

Don't like Libby/Liberty at all, I'm afraid.

labtest · 13/10/2010 18:47

Amity is nice

PosieComeHereMyPreciousParker · 13/10/2010 18:49

Honor Thomas.....On her Thomas
Liberty Thomas....like
Faith
Hope
Joy all good.

lisianthus · 13/10/2010 18:54

Ruth, Honor, Constance, all great names. Honor is probably my favourite, both for the meaning (it's a "strong" sort of virtue), and for the name itself. Honor Blackman anyone? V cool. I also like Liberty very much.

NKinDXB · 13/10/2010 19:03

I really like Liberty. Considered it myself but knew no way DH would buy it. Also think it sounds great with your surname.

WinkyWinkola · 13/10/2010 19:12

Clementine or Honor.

Don't like the others.

deliakate · 13/10/2010 19:17

Was just bathing DS and picturing a little girl beside him, with me calling her Liberty.... not sure if it goes well on a baby, but on a little girl it sounds good, and I suppose they are not babies for long. Now here's hoping its a girl

I love love nearly all the virtue names. Of your choices -

Grace too common (but lovely)

Liberty too naff, American, untraditional, happy dippy

Honor just beautiful. It's actually one of those incredibly old engliah names. Just never been used much.

I like Verity and Constance too..

mopsyflopsy · 14/10/2010 12:00

Another vote for Constance. Lovely!

Not keen on Liberty or Verity.

Miasma · 14/10/2010 12:05

Love Constance and Faith

I've got a Grace and it is MEGA common.
