Brother or sister for Ella

Hi everyone, I need your help!
Despite being obsessed with looking for names I just cannot think of any I like or that we agree on!
Big sister is called Ella with 3 syllable surname beginning with B.
For a girl I want a feminine and strong name.
For a boy, something strong and not too common.
(not much to ask, eh?)
If anyone can help it's you guys!
Thanks :)

I know an Ella who has a brother Joel and sister Amber. They seem to go well together.

DebiTheScot · 13/10/2010 13:14

I know an Ella with a sister Amber too! And a brother William.

twirlymum · 13/10/2010 13:28

Amber and Ella?
If you had to shout their names in the park, it would sound like you were singing a Rihanna song, or asking for something to protect you from the rain...

LynetteScavo · 13/10/2010 13:30

I thought it was the law that Ella's brother must be called Joshua.

sleepyhorse · 13/10/2010 13:37

Charlie, Joseph, Myles, Jake??

Sidge · 13/10/2010 13:39

Anything but Sam.

Sam n Ella - not good.

twirlymum · 13/10/2010 13:41

Lynette, I don't get it. Blush

mumbybumby · 13/10/2010 14:22

Ooh glad to see a few suggestions have come up while I've been away! I do like Joel for a boy, I have to say I'd already recognised the 'sam' issue (Ella won't be allowed to date any sams when the time comes, either!) but hadn't thought about the Amber one! :)
Quite like Joseph and Charlie and Jake but DP's brother s called Jake, so that rules that out!
What do you think of Imogen? Or Siena? I'm not sure I am convinced by either! Aaargh, I'm sure it wasn't as hard as this last time!

I really like Imogen and Sienna, I had them on my girls list. What about Sadie and Libby?

Rhian82 · 13/10/2010 14:36

My cousin's daughter is called Ella, and her brother is Kian.

LynetteScavo · 13/10/2010 14:37

twirlymum, I've lost count of how many siblings I've met called Joshua and Ella. Parents who like one name always seem to like the other aswell.

RaisedFromPerdition · 13/10/2010 14:39

No. Ella's brother is always called Jack. Or maybe Harry.

We had chickens called Sam n Ella once.

BudaisintheZONE · 13/10/2010 14:39

My sis has twins - Tom and Ella.

Other siblings (she has 5 DCs) - Stephen, Jessica and Alex

Omg my insane mobile! Sorry sorry I'm mobile internetin' and my phone is actin loopy Blush what I ment to say was I think Sienna is lovely and goes really lovely with Ella which is a great name btw :) boys... Nathaniel, Vincent, Sebastian, Arthur, Thomas, Grayson, Declan, Justin, Michael... Any good?

mumbybumby · 13/10/2010 19:26

Ha ha secretwishes not sure about your first suggestion but I do like sebastian. Boys names seem to be so much more tricky.
Libby is another lovely girl's name and sounds good in the 'shouting in the park' test! :)
Just asked Ella what her brother or sister should be called (long shot as she's only 18 months) her ideas so far are 'this' and 'nice mummy'. Still she's come up with more ideas than DP!
Thanks to everyone who's made suggestions - am going to show this to DP for some inspiration!

Oh I do like Libby! Lol at your little Ella's suggestions :) tell dp to get a crack on his list your working hard enough growing the baba after all Grin

mumbybumby · 13/10/2010 20:45

Ha ha I will, even though his suggestions are usually terrible!

He is convinced the name 'ella' came to him the second she was born - what he didn't realise was it was on my list and i'd been subliminally conditioning him to choose it! :) no such chance this time as I'm stumped!

I know an Ella and Oscar. Although a bit of a mouthfull IMO.

tooearlytobeup · 13/10/2010 21:13

I have an Ella with a brother and sister. Some names we used or considered are Mia, Ava, Sophia, Anna, Max, Lucas, Joseph and Luca

mumbybumby · 13/10/2010 21:21

Tooearly - looks like you like names ending in 'a' like I do! :) all good suggestions!

Don't know about boys names but I really like Grace with Ella - is my 'never going to happen second DD's name'!

mumbybumby · 13/10/2010 21:35

Mothership (great name btw) grace is a lovely name really pretty and feminine and sounds good with Ella!

I know two Ellas with brothers called Louis - sort of a Jazz theme going on there methinks (Fitzgerald and Armstrong).

mumbybumby · 14/10/2010 10:13

One of the reasons i chose Ella was the Ella Fitzgerald link - my dad loved her music and chose one of her songs to be played at his funeral. Might give Louis a miss if it's been done! :)
