We still haven't decided on a name....throwing another one into the mix. When you see the name Cleo do you think of a female straight away? Can you see a Cleo as a grown confident successful woman? Have you heard of any baby girls named Cleo? Does it make you think of a Clio car or a cat or do you think of it as a beautiful name???!!
Just seeing what the general consensus is. Thanks in advance! Smile

I really like it! (but my taste in names is notoriously chav-tastic and has to be reined in by DH Grin).

MardyBra · 07/10/2010 17:14

Really nice

Rockbird · 07/10/2010 17:14

Love it. Think of Cleo Laine who is far from chav.

WillYouDoTheDamnFanjo · 07/10/2010 17:15

Gorgeous! Lovely name for the woman-to-be, too.

Jojay · 07/10/2010 17:15

Love it! I had a horse when I was about 17 and I called her Cleo. Great name

Lexx · 07/10/2010 17:15

Lol! Hope it's not perceived as chavvy??? Shock

I like it.

Yummygummybear · 07/10/2010 17:16

I like it & would think it the opposite of chavvy

passionberry · 07/10/2010 17:18

No! I don't think it's at all chavvy - I really like it!

It's just that I have liked a lot of names on these threads that other mumsnetters have thought were a bit "common" - I just meant no one shares my taste on here!

5DollarShake · 07/10/2010 17:18

Really like it - Cleo Laine for me too, so definitely an adult's name.

Jojay · 07/10/2010 17:19

Or how about Clea? I've heard that before but only in very posh circles Wink

mathanxiety · 07/10/2010 18:33

Not a bit c####y; I love it. I think it's a cool and elegant name for a grown up, and a lovely sweet, unfussy-sounding name for a girl.

MrToad · 07/10/2010 18:36

I really like Cleo, unusual and classy. Please use it!

Needaname · 07/10/2010 18:47

I love it!

Sunlightdances · 08/10/2010 02:50

Beautiful, classic.

LaRagazzaInglese · 08/10/2010 14:29

Beautiful, for a baby girl and as she grows up. Very pretty but not too frilly, certainly not chavvy, i dont think of the car, or a pets name, maybe Cleo Laine though which isnt a bad thing.

WhatTheWhat · 08/10/2010 14:34

Make sure you buy Cleo the Cat yourself and let people know you have it or you will get a lot of copies as gifts!
V nice name.

bundlebelly · 08/10/2010 14:47

Not chavvy at all. Can imagine very successful, confidant, kind, well educated woman Cleo.
People might ask if it's short for Cleopatra though. Not that it matters.

LaRagazzaInglese · 08/10/2010 14:48

or maybe Cleo Rocos, but still, she's a bit eccentric and posh and it suits her.

LetThereBeRock · 08/10/2010 15:42

I hate it. I don't think it's at all beautiful. It does make me think of the car.

kizzibear · 08/10/2010 15:55

I was debating over this name for ages and had a few threads. Most people seem to like it. I still reall ylike it, though because its not that common at the mon(not in the top couple of hundred) people seem unsure. Still in my short list

TooImmature2BMum · 08/10/2010 16:00

Personally, to me Cleo will always be a fat little ginger Staffie, but I do love the name - and my family's habit of calling pets by human names has ruled out a lot of names I really like. Sophie the dog, Emily the sheep, Rowan the horse...sometimes it's beneficial, like when I was able to veto Jasper (suggestion by DH, clearly channeling his inner yah) as he was a cat my Granny owned when I was five.

iskra · 08/10/2010 16:02

I like Cleo. I know one Cleo (South African girl in her twenties), & there's a Cleo in the Alexandria Quarter by Lawrence Durrell.

AnaYorks · 08/10/2010 17:33

We have a friend in France called Cléo (pronounced clay-oh), she's about seven years old. It a really lovely name, and increasing in popularity over there.

Mumcah · 08/10/2010 19:32

I LOVE the name Clio but prefer it spelt the way I have.
My last baby was going to be Clio but I had a DS and I won't be having any more.Gutted I won't be able to use the name.
