We already have a Sam, so obviously I don't mind common (as in you hear them frequently) names. :)

Boys:
Jack
Finn
Rhys
Alexander
William

Girls:
Eleanora (DH's grandmother's name, nn possibly Elle)
Penelope (called Poppy, and I know, I know, but yes I can :o)
Philippa, nn Pippa
Caroline
Susannah

Susannah

Alexander

Thanks, rubyslippers. Not to profile stalk you, but isn't Skinny Dip hilarious? My Dad and I were just talking about it a few hours ago. Sorry, profile stalking's what I do when I get bored...and wow, just hijacked my own thread. :o

Alexander and Eleanora. Tyrone and Molly in Corrie have just named their baby Jack so that would put me off the name for good.

TheFallenMadonna · 12/09/2010 09:58

William and Susannah.

SirBoobAlot · 12/09/2010 10:06

William, Rhys or Finn.

Penelope or Eleanora.

thisisyesterday · 12/09/2010 10:08

boy: William or Finn

Girl: Eleanora

rubyslippers · 12/09/2010 10:12

Skinny dip is hilarious ...

May have to dig it out for a re-read!

Thissideofchannel · 12/09/2010 10:18

Rhys is great and goes well with Sam

(I'd avoid William due to the obvious Will/Willy abbreviation Grin)

Susannah

CupcakesHay · 12/09/2010 10:23

William for sure, but like Alexander

And love Susannah and Penelope (and yes, you can with poppy)

LaDiDaDi · 12/09/2010 10:25

Eleanora if you use Nora as a nn otherwise Susannah.

William

Lee32 · 12/09/2010 10:31

Susannah (though I'd leave the final H off). It can always be shortened down to 'Anna if you don't like the inevitable Susie. One friend of mine abbreviates herself to "Zan" which I think is sort of cool.

Finn. It's short, easy to pronounce, needs no abbreviating, nearly impossible to mis-spell, still unusual enough for there not to be a million others in his class with the same name.

Congratulations on your new arrival!

lifeas3plus1 · 12/09/2010 10:58

Alexander and Phillipa because I love the name pippa and Alexander as loads of different nn potential.

Sam and Alex and Sam and Pippa sound lovely together.

lifeas3plus1 · 12/09/2010 11:00

Philippa obviously. Not Phillipa.

NormanNorris · 12/09/2010 11:32

Penelope and Finn (with William as a middle name)

ozmetric · 12/09/2010 12:14

My favourites from your list are Alexander or William for a boy, Eleanora, Penelope or Philippa for a girl.

gettingtogrips · 12/09/2010 12:22

My favourites are Alexander and Penelope (Poppy) - very cute names. Good luck deciding

pilates · 12/09/2010 12:31

Jack and William

Eleanora

CheerfulYank · 12/09/2010 15:29

Lee I'm not actually pregnant; DH and I are going to ttc soon and we agonized over names the first time around, so I'm just getting opinions on our front-runner. Blush

Thisside, I'm American and we don't call it a Willy here, so that isn't a problem. :)

Thanks for the opinions!
