Have never heard Merryn before but think it's a lovely name. Also really like Alice.

CuppaTeaJanice · 07/09/2010 08:39

I like them all except Margot (1970s housewife) and Lowri (that annoying tv presenter).

Not sure how you pronounce Caridwen.

sedgiebaby · 07/09/2010 08:47

I like Merryn (would prefer a spelling of Merrin personally) and Seren - DH wouldn't have either but I think they are lovely. Marin/e and Maren are also nice.

All the best, I'm in a similar position - re names - and also due next week.

LaTristesse · 07/09/2010 08:58

alice - too popular now for my liking, but would 'go' with your other DCs names
seren - love it
merryn - pretty, i like
elizabeth - bit boring for me
sophia - nice, prefer Sophie I think, also goes with existing names
margot - not nice
emiliana - too try-hard
liliana - prefer Lily, but soooo popular
lowri - not nice
caridwen - never heard it, sounds quite harsh

lamplighter · 07/09/2010 09:02

Alicia Eve?

loler · 07/09/2010 09:33

alice - all 3 babies I know born this year have been called Alice - but it is a great name
seren - Lovely
merryn - never heard before but it's pretty without being too little girly.
elizabeth - has some good shortenings
sophia - OK
margot - maggie is ok margot isn't
emiliana - bit of a mouthful
liliana - OK
lowri - not sure, I think of matchstick men and the tv presenter
caridwen - OK if you're welsh and live in wales

MoMoMoM · 07/09/2010 11:39

Alice, Sophia or Merryn.

Emiliana is not a name, its a tongue twister!

boodleboot · 07/09/2010 11:58

looks like merryn is a pretty sane choice given the feedback....at this stage af pregnancy hormentalness u just cant tell sometimes....:)

i am think minnie or merry for nn's?

Merryn Eve or Merryn Lily:

I think those that go best with your other kids names are;

Alice
Lily
Elizabeth (shortened- lizzy/Eliza?)
Emily
Sophie

Also, you seem to like the ending -Ana. So how about a simple Anne/ Anna?

Good luck on Sunday!

Quenbioz · 07/09/2010 12:31

I like Sophia best from your list.

Alice - like, or how about Alyssa?
Seren - not so keen, but I like Serena
Merryn - not keen, don't like the sound
Elizabeth - nice
Sophia - like :)
Emiliana - like, also like Emily
Liliana - like
Lowri - dislike
Caridwen - not keen

How about

Juliana
Marianne
Sara
Aurora
Evelina
Estella
Carina
Emma
Abigail
Alexandra

Psammead · 07/09/2010 12:36

alice - very nice - one of my all time favourites.
seren - another one of my faves!
merryn - not heard, but quite nice without being twee
elizabeth - classic, timeless
sophia - lovely
margot - not my taste
emiliana - fussy
liliana - fussy
lowri - ok, not my taste
caridwen - quite nice - are you Welsh?

Quenbioz · 07/09/2010 12:38

Sorry, missed out Margot, but I don't like it I'm afraid. It's too similar to maggot.

FingonTheValiant · 07/09/2010 13:19

I really like Merryn, it's lovely. I think Merryn Lily has a lovely sound to it, Merryn Eve runs together a little. Merry is a jolly little nn, not so keen on Minnie.

smother · 07/09/2010 14:42

merryn is really lovely, go for it!

Sophia is WAY too popular at the moment. If I get another baby announcement introducing a Sophia/Sofia/Sophie I am going to scream.

jumpyjan · 07/09/2010 20:15

Elizabeth - definitely.

minipie · 07/09/2010 20:21

alice - Perfectly nice, but not my favourite
seren - Lovely. Really lovely
merryn - Nice, but I slightly prefer Seren
elizabeth - Great classic, lots of good nns
sophia - Not keen
margot - Like, but nns (Marge?) not great
emiliana - No, too frilly for me
liliana - Same
lowri - Not keen
caridwen - Too difficult to say (unless you live in wales)

I vote for Seren, Merryn or Elizabeth.

Not that you need another option but... Bethan?

flopsy1974 · 07/09/2010 20:46

Alice is lovely.

allbie · 07/09/2010 22:17

Margot or Merryn, lovely.

GladioliBuckets · 08/09/2010 17:47

Merryn Elizabeth is nice.

EleFunTess · 08/09/2010 17:50

alice
seren
merryn
elizabeth
sophia
margot
emiliana
liliana
lowri
caridwen

Love Seren and Merryn.

Seren Lily
Merryn Eve

Lovely.

They are all nice names (not keen on Lowri, but other than that, all nice!).

ValiumSingleton · 08/09/2010 19:55

Elizabeth with Eliza for short or Margaret with Margot or Maggie for short.

I really like either Margaret Alice or Elizabeth Alice. Or Margaret Eve.

Emiliana is just too gooey. ditto Liliana. Less is more sometimes. These names have too many Ls lalalalalallaallaalalla lia.

I like the strength of some welsh names, like Olwen and Branwen and even Gwyneth! but in the length of time it's taken me to type this sentence, Caridwen has totally grown on me!

Lowri is like a surname. Merryn I like but not with a Y. Is that welsh? I like Muirreann though. presuming similar pronounciation. Good name if so.

Seren, not sure. sophia. ok but prefer Sophie.

oltob · 09/09/2010 15:38

Seren jumped out to me, Seren Eve sounds beautiful, and timeless.
Merryn is lovely too.
Good luck for Sunday.
