Just testing a few namesas im trying for another at the minute and i quite liked Mazie if i had a little girl.

Also i cant think of a middle name to go with Mazie.

Any ideas?

Why the silly spelling?

meltedmarsbars · 30/08/2010 23:01

Isn't it Maisie?

Very Enid Blyton, if you ask me (which technically you didn't).

SparklyJules · 30/08/2010 23:02

Please don't spell it like that!

loopyloops · 30/08/2010 23:04

My middle name is Maisie and I love it. When I was a child I made everyone call me Maisie instead of my first name. If it weren't me middle name I would have liked it for DD.

BUT

Don't spell it like that. It's hideous.

Fluffypoms · 30/08/2010 23:04

pretty but think it is better spelt maisie.

I think Paisley is pretty for a girl also.

thenightwalker · 30/08/2010 23:07

Just asumed that was how it was spelt (one of the mums at playgroups daughters name is spelt that way) I do definately prefer it spelt maisie.

Any middle names?

What I think is that you need to spell it Maisie.

Or perhaps Maisy.

Mazie is asking for trouble, or at ant rate "No actually, it's M-a-Z-i-e" all her life.

Maisie or Maisy is a pretty name tho. Faaaiiirly popular in my neck of the middle-class woods FWIW.

chainedtothedesk · 31/08/2010 09:41

would spell it 'Maisie' and too babyish for me I'm afraid. Can't imagine a cool teen / twenty something called Maisie.

Sorry

Are you pronouncing it Mazz-ee?
that's what I would do.

4andnotout · 31/08/2010 10:02

I have a Maisy and it really suits her, I think the name grows with the child.

mopsyflopsy · 31/08/2010 10:03

I find Maisy/Maisie/Maizy/Mazie too cutesy and babyish as well. How about Margaret or Madeleine?

I love it, it's on my list too, only thing that puts me off is assoiation with Maisy Mouse,

'Maisy, Maisy, Maisy Maisy Maisy, Maisy, Maisy, Maisy Maisy !'

Sorry, that song got stuck in my head as soon as I saw the thread title and didn't see why I should be the only one.

I like Maisy with Mai for short.

NorfLondonNelly · 31/08/2010 12:01

A bit corny?! Maize - Sorry couldn't resist. Not that keen, its a cute nicknamey name except its not short for anything is it? Despite the popularity of Milly and Molly think Maisy is still rare-ish. We changed our daughters irish name to an anglicised/phonetic spelling only to regret it... and everyone seems to use the correct spelling. I also have a common name with an quirky spelling, bit of a pain to be honest!

horatia · 31/08/2010 12:15

I like Maisie/Maisy.

Maisie Rebecca
Maisie Louisa
Maisie Julianne
Maisie Catherine
Maisie Harriet
Maisie Cara
Maisie Jessica
Maisie Natasha
Maisie Amber
Maisie Eloise
Maisie Francesca
Maisie Lydia
Maisie Leah
Maisie Gabriella
Maisie Aurelia

ValiumSingleton · 31/08/2010 12:19

It looks even more like Maze when you spell it with a z.

SardineJam · 31/08/2010 13:39

I know someone who's daughter's name is spelt Macy...as an alternative. Mazie is NOT good though

activate · 31/08/2010 13:46

terrible spelling

it is too close to Nazi and Maze

Maisie is ok but a bit simpering

GetOrfMoiLand · 31/08/2010 13:59

I think it's a bit corny.

NoTeaForMe · 31/08/2010 15:40

I love this name but it worries me that it's not professional enough when she is older. However, it is getting a bit more popular (not too much in my opinion, number 60-something on the top 100 last year and I know of one who is 8 and thats it, and I work in a school!) so surely by the time my daughter is older it won't be odd to have a lawyer (etc) called Maisie.....?!

My husband is adament that this is the name he wants!!

PS You definately spell it Maisie though!

loopyloops · 31/08/2010 18:55

Not professional enough? What name is a professional name?

Oartistic · 31/08/2010 18:57

Dreadful spelling. And if you ever have the misfortune to see the Maisy Mouse cartoons, you'll regret ever having thought of the name. Grin
