Doris.
I think i like it, i think it might go on our list (although dh seems to be the only one allowed a list - he is saying no to all my names).
Unfortunately the 2nd mn has to be Denise, so it would be something like

Doris Juniper Denise or
Doris Violet Denise.

Anyway - we have a whole list of 4 now, none of which drive me wild but they are ok, as dh will not give in to any of mine at all . . . . .

So, as if i could not guess, any thoughts on Doris?

I actually like Doris a little. But it doesn't work with Denise.

There's a little girl in my DD's class at school called Doris. I like it. Not sure it goes with Denise though.

Hmm, not to my taste at all. And if you have to go with Denise, then I'd be even more inclined to avoid.

I like Dory more than Doris it is more modern sounding. Or Adora - worth a try?

It's fine. And Denise as a second middle name also sounds fine.

Is Denise a family name?

Yes, Denise is a family name. dd2 has mil name as her mn, so I feel i have to put my mums name in the mn spot this time. Rubbish name though , but mum is lovely, so its no big deal!
Dory he might do for (or maybe as a nn for Doris).
I know he does not like Adora (too frilly), Dorcas or Audrina/Audrey.

And if under-used old lady chic is what you're after, what about Ada? It's not that disimilar to all the Evie's and Eva's, but not one I've heard yet for a child.

If you DH likes Doris, does he like Phyllis? It was my grandma's name (obviously that's not relevant) - I just wondered if there was a theme? I am reading The Children's Book by AS Byatt and there's a little girl called Phyllis in there.

There was a thread recently about grandparents names and some people seemed of the opinion that it could become quite cool - in the way that Doris is becoming.

I like Doris a lot. DH's nan was called it and was always known as Dolly.

I actually like Doris! And I don't think that the second name has to 'go' with the first name. If you think about it how often will you say "Come here, Doris Denise!"

I thought about something similar to Denise, but its a no go (i also tried this with mil name!) with dh.
Dh has already said no to Dorothy, Theodora and Dahlia. I do not like Darcy one bit.
