DH and my Shortlist.

French Canadian DH, I'm English, we're living in the UK permenantly.

Had a terrible time trying to find a name which is not too frilly with our last name (very like 'La Rouge'), please feed back but go easy because I'm struggling with this soooooooo very much and I'm 35 wks now

Middle name Grace (family name)

Angéline Grace (would use Angélie as a family nn or GiGi - would want to avoid Angie tho :/ )
Eloïse Grace
Claudia Grace (the meaning does put me off a bit)
Elodie Grace
Sasha Grace
Evangeline Grace (I like all the nn's that could come from this both sweet and 'grown up' ones)

Pretty much in order of preference although, I love Evangeline, but a (not that close) friends baby has this and she would like it to stay 'unique' but 'its up to me' :S. Would still use Angelie or GiGi as nn's

Eloise

belgo · 12/08/2010 13:45

Angelie/line is lovely.

Evangeline - don't see the appeal of this name at all.

The others are all lovely.

Clary · 12/08/2010 13:45

Eloise is a nice name, I know a couple (thank goodness yre not spelling it Elouise as I have seen Hmm

Elise is another nice one in that style.

Angeline, Elodie, Evangeline all a bit fancy for my taste. All pretty unusual.

Claudia is due a comeback; Sasha is nice too.

Taking it all in all, I would ditch the accents altoether, just asking for trouble IMO.

mamaloco · 12/08/2010 13:50

Like all, except claudia and evangeline.
Sasha is a beautiful name but don't really goes with grace.

may be Angeline or Elodie- Grace sounds better.

I would go for angeline but I have an angelique so I am biased Wink (DH didn't want angeline because it is to close to brangelina)

mamaloco · 12/08/2010 13:51

Don't listen to clary she obviously missed the french canadian connection Wink

Clary · 12/08/2010 13:53

Wot, you mean about the accents? Wink

But OP does say she is living in the UK; I just mean folk here won't grasp that. Smile

sedgiebaby · 12/08/2010 13:55

Lol mamaloco, I can't really get my DH to drop the accent seeing as his first language is French, it is why I'm not allowed to have Thea (can't say TH and doesn't want people to think he is saying it 'wrong' even though 'Téa' sounds nice to me too)

OP posts:
BuntyPenfold · 12/08/2010 13:55

Wot accent, where her pen slipped you mean?

Horton · 12/08/2010 14:05

There shouldn't be an accent in Evangeline or Angeline, anyway. Not even in French.

BuntyPenfold · 12/08/2010 14:07

I only knows boys called Sasha

sedgiebaby · 12/08/2010 14:12

Really Horton? I copied from a French baby name site...anyway that aside which do you like?

OP posts:
Horton · 12/08/2010 14:16

I really think they don't have accents!

I do like all the names, though. Not particularly keen on Sasha, although it's perfectly nice, and I think Elodie is becoming more common these days if that matters to you. My personal choice would be Evangeline or Claudia. Eloise is also lovely (sorry don't know how to do the accent on my PC!)

MollysChambers · 12/08/2010 14:17

Angéline Grace - Okay but not keen on suggested nicknames - and be prepared for school friends to call her Angie about which you can do nothing...
Eloïse Grace - lovely (but drop accent)
Claudia Grace - lovely
Elodie Grace - also lovely
Sasha Grace - not so much
Evangeline Grace - Lovely name but a bit of a mouthful - Eva for short??

Elodie or Eloise would be my choice. Elodie more unusual I would say.

Horton · 12/08/2010 14:26

Oh, maybe they do have accents. I just had a look. Sorry!

sedgiebaby · 12/08/2010 14:36

No prob's Horton, I wouldn't know really, I'm not french speaking...

OP posts:
mamaloco · 12/08/2010 14:41

Yes Eloise, evangeline and angelie have accents in french.
saSha is for girls and saCha for boys... Well at least in french (or russian immigrants from 1917)

mamaloco · 12/08/2010 14:49

Elodie too!

Pasiphae · 12/08/2010 14:49

I love Eloïse, but too be trully French: Héloïse should be used.

Accent wise: my oldest daugther has one in her name, and so have I, but they ALWAYS get dropped, nowadays we don't bother with them anymore either...

Too me Evangeline feels the most French Canadian... Lovely!

CreepyFunbags · 12/08/2010 14:51

I like Elodie, very pretty.

MummikinsOopNorth · 12/08/2010 15:22

Angéline Grace - Don't like this
Eloïse Grace - Is ok, quite feminine
Claudia Grace - I hate the name Claudia!
Elodie Grace - Very pretty - makes me think of flowers and bunnies hopping in a meadow!
Sasha Grace - reaaaaally dislike 'Sasha'
Evangeline Grace - bit of a mouthful

Chynah · 12/08/2010 21:52

Evangeline is DDs middle name so I obviously love it! Lots of nn possibilities too.

seaturtle · 12/08/2010 21:58

I like them all especially Angeline and Sasha. I love Evangeline.

beccagrace2 · 12/08/2010 22:08

claudia is lush....but im biased Wink

jellybeans · 12/08/2010 22:28

Angéline Grace...like
Claudia Grace ..OK
Elodie Grace...like
Sasha Grace...like
Evangeline Grace ...love it

mathanxiety · 13/08/2010 02:55

Angeline Grace is my favourite by a long shot. I love Angelie (sorry can't do accents) as a nn, also Gigi.

I have a fada (accent mark) in my name and always use it.
