Due next month, not sure what I'm having, have a girl and a boy already called Seth and Nancy so want a name which compliments these two.

So far we have a shortlist of:

GIRLS
Clara
Adelaide (Ada)
Olive

BOYS
Ralph
Felix
Gideon
Tom

The only one I am not keen on is Gideon but as all baby names are it is a personal thing, the otehrs I really like.

AT1137 · 11/08/2010 17:54

Gideon is my least favourite too, it's my other halves suggestion!

Ckara and Ralph go best with Seth and Nancy in my opinion.

But like all - except gideon.

DessieLou · 11/08/2010 17:57

I quite like Clara but I love Ralph and Felix!

Housewife2010 · 11/08/2010 17:59

Don't have Clara. That's my child's name.
Ralph is v nice.

lulabellamozerella · 11/08/2010 18:18

Clara and Ralph go best with Seth and Nancy I think

superdragonmama · 11/08/2010 18:22

Like all your names, bar Gideon, and LOVE Clara - youngest ds would have been a Clara if he'd been a dd.

SummerRain · 11/08/2010 18:29

I once knew a Clara who was a total cow so not keen on the name anymore.

Adelaide is beautiful

Olive makes me think of Popeye

Ralph is quite nice

Felix is getting very common isn't it? Makes me think of cats.

Gideon makes me tink of dusty old books

I would think Tom was short for Thomas if i heard it.

Clara, Ada, Felix and Tom.

Wouldn't go for Olive (Oyl) or Ralph (Penis).

Cakemuncher · 11/08/2010 18:50

Not sure about Adelaide, but Ada is nice.
Olive also makes me think of Popeye.

LaundryLyne · 11/08/2010 19:04

I like Clara, Olive and Felix.

HumphreyCobbler · 11/08/2010 19:06

You can't have Clara, it is DD's name.

I sense a trend here Grin

Someone else on here said it was going to be the next Ruby Shock I didn't think it was that rare, but I would have avoided a top ten name if possible.

Seth and Nancy are lovely names, I like all those on your list too.

when I was pregnant I met two

makes me laugh as I was going to call her Ada but thought it was getting too common.

It isn't that popular in Wales though.

HumphreyCobbler · 11/08/2010 19:33

I want to know your DS's name now thesecondcoming

I think we would get on, I love that name too.

Really, it doesn't matter if a name gets everywhere It was number 340 ish in 2008, I thought that was a pretty safe bet!

Tillyscoutsmum · 11/08/2010 19:36

I absolutely love Seth and Nancy and imho none of the names of your shortlist live up to those.

I think Clara is the best of the girl's names and, just to be awkward, I prefer Gideon to the others on your list.

Felix is ok. Tom is comparatively dull and Ralph just makes me think of either penis or vomit.

How about Gilbert ? (Gil as a nn or perhaps Bertie when he is very young)

I'm so disappointed that Clara is getting to be so popular. We had her in 2007 & I haven't met any other Clara's before or since, but going on the MN boards it seems that there are Clara's popping up everywhere. It was important to me that she had an unusual name. I was the only Housewife at school & I wanted her to be the same & not one of many like all the Jane's, Jo's & Nicola's. My all-time favourite girl's names had always been Isabella & Emilia, but 25 years later when I was expecting my first baby there seemed to be loads of them so we had to veto those names.
