vivian or philippa

OliviaMumsnet · 11/08/2010 09:54

I prefer the spelling Vivien (isn't the a when it's a boy's name?)
I really like Philippa too- lots of nn options.
Less keen on the other two - I loved the name Meredith until I started watching Grey's Anatomy Hmm

Congrats btw if they're due which I'm guessing they are!

BuntyPenfold · 11/08/2010 09:58

Love Meredith. Like them all really, but Merry nn is cute and lovely.

Ronaldinhio · 11/08/2010 10:01

thanks Olivia (gingerly takes a bow!!)

she was born two weeks ago and the general fuzziness of my mind has prevented both naming or spelling
you are right re vivi

like Merry or Edie for nn from Meredith

Meredith is just beautiful. I adore it. Soft, pretty, feminine, abbreviates into a couple of lovely nicknames.

It's much nicer than the others and they're fine names.

Ronaldinhio · 11/08/2010 10:05

I was at a standstill as I had narrowed it down to a number of names all of which I would be happy with
the final decision is the killer

TWO WEEKS?! The pore child! Grin

Does she LOOK like any of the names you've listed?
or NOT look like them?

I was completely set on Alexander for a boy but when DS was born he just didn't LOOK like one. He looked like a Henry and that's what he is.

Hadn't thought of Merry as a nn or Edie - both nice too
(not helping much, am I?)

Ronaldinhio · 11/08/2010 10:32

we liked virginia or charlotte but decided against upon arrival

i loved alexandra and harriet for the girls but dh vetoed

will they prosecute if we don't register???

Philippa !

(This does seem to be getting quite popular round MN- few threads recently. But i love it, hence DD2 will be Philippa Imogen, due October).

Rosalind was on my list, as was Meredith- love Meredith, lovely nn potential= Merry, Edie are great. Was put off Rosalind by 'Roz' really, but then the one I know -same age as me- was never Roz. As a little girl, Rosie makes more sense.

Not as keen on Vivian- doesn't seem right on a baby, but Vivi is cute.

Lavitabellissima · 11/08/2010 10:53

I like Vivien or Rosalind

Pasiphae · 11/08/2010 10:59

Vivian! Beautiful, demure but fun.

I like Meredith too.

OliviaMumsnet · 11/08/2010 12:40

I will report you = give the poor girl a name already Grin

pointydog · 11/08/2010 12:48

I like Meredith. A good sound, quite unusual, nothing too specific springs to mind in terms of people-type. Edie good nickname.

Don;t like philippa or Rosalind, too uptight.

There's something a bit flat about Vivian.

MrsJohnDeere · 11/08/2010 12:50

Meredith gets my vote

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 11/08/2010 17:58

Meredith! deffo

SecurusScriptor · 11/08/2010 18:01

Ronaldinho, what is(are) baby sista's sibling(s) called?

orienteerer · 11/08/2010 18:06

Meredith or Philippa

Ronaldinhio · 11/08/2010 18:07

Easywriter · 11/08/2010 20:44

Mmmmm! I don't know really, Rosalind is soooo pretty.

SqueezyB · 11/08/2010 20:51

Meredith! I have one, NN Meri. Rosalind is lovely too.

ColdComfortFarm · 11/08/2010 20:55

Vivien. Vivi for short. I think 'v' is a cool initial.

Flighttattendant · 11/08/2010 20:57

Rosalind or Vivienne I think.

teaandcakeplease · 11/08/2010 21:08

Vivian (is male version) my mums name is Vivienne and I love it Smile (bias)

I like Philippa too, especially shortened to Pippa.

proudfoot · 11/08/2010 22:29

Meredith

Unusual but everyone has heard of it - nice name with old fashioned charm

PollyTechnique · 11/08/2010 22:38

Rosalind is very pretty (and classy!). NN Rosa?
