I know an exquisitely pretty Finnish girl called Taina (pronounced Tie-na)which is similar but a real name.

TheDoodler · 30/07/2010 15:00

See - this is why i never come on name threads

Honestly - imagine how you would feel if you don't call it her and then she ends up at school with one - you'd be so

rachxx · 30/07/2010 15:11

colliecross, how is it not a real name??

Thedoodler- name threads arnt my favourite, as I have never once suggested a 'winner'

I like Tiana. Simple and feminine sounding. Nicknames can be Tia or Taia.

Not at all similar to Princess Tiaammii!

Ibizadreams · 30/07/2010 15:30

Carmen is beautiful!

rachxx · 30/07/2010 15:38

Do you really think that Ibizadreams?

I don't like it. Sounds a little made up.

I also don't like Tatiana (as someone else suggested) but that's because I lived in Russia and every second girl was called Tatiana. It is always shortened to Tanya there anyway.

nice names:

Emma
Rose
Grace
Amelia
Eve
Catherine
Elizabeth

mathanxiety · 30/07/2010 15:46

From that list, I love Carmen too. Carmel is a very nice, soft-sounding name, but Carmen is really gorgeous.

StrawberryTot · 30/07/2010 15:51

i think its a really nice name but im biased as my 4 year old niece is called tiaana (slight spelling difference but its the same pronunciation as yours) everyone calls her tia for short.

rachxx · 30/07/2010 16:06

Emma-boring borng boring
Rose-so many little girls with ths
Grace-very predictable
Amelia-nice
Eve-very predicatable
Catherine-not really cute little girl image in my head-more a bony old lady
Elizabeth-horrible-my middle name and I cringe when I tell people it, and they all give me sympathy looks. Not going to burden my little girl wth that!!!!

LaundryLyne · 30/07/2010 16:50

I can't think of anything wrong with Elizabeth either.....

Cakey0207 · 30/07/2010 17:25

I like Tiana, Tia & Taya. It's cute. A friend called her DD Jaya.

rachxx · 30/07/2010 18:28

well having elizabeth as a middle name-its awful

people always laugh when I tell them my middle name, and I know a hundred rachel elizabeth's (which is my name)

People never saw, awww thats a nce middle name, I get the 'was it a family connection' or 'at least its not your 1st name'

oh i love ava i so wanted to call my both babies that when i was expecting but the OH wouldn't have it he kept going on about an ava gardner which meant nothing to me in the end he ended up naming both them.

seeker · 30/07/2010 19:45

"Catherine-not really cute little girl image "

But she's only going to be a cute little girl for 5 or 6 years - she's going to be a child, a teenager, a young wonam, a middle aged woman and an old lady for much longer!

Adair · 30/07/2010 19:46

I think Tiana is pretty. Tia too. I know a couple of little girls called Tia. If you and your dh/dp love it, who cares what others think though?

And Tiana in Princess & the Frog is quite a reasonable name-sake too.

seeker · 30/07/2010 19:48

anything here?

How about Edith, or Thea, or Adelaide?

Amonamouse · 30/07/2010 19:50

Ava is lovely - call her Ava.

LexieKJ · 30/07/2010 19:54

It's certainly not the worst name I've ever heard, but I find it a bit chav tbh. Though Tiana Benjamin from EastEnders seems to carry it well!
